Anna is the best – she bought me a silk pillow case for xmas! This sounds like some kind of ‘lovers gift’ but it’s for beauty! (of course)
We are both growing out our hair and in doing so are remembering how much long hair tangles, especially if you roll around in your sleep like a complete psycho.
In our research, we stumbled upon a remedy for this (AND WRINKLES) – Silk Pillow cases!
Does’t this bitch look cozy?! SILK PILLOW CASE!
So here is the ‘science’ behind it.
First off – you know how sometimes you wake up with ‘sleep lines’ on your face or arms. Well that is from the material you are sleeping on being mooshed against your skin. This means that fabric is pulling at the skin – and hair – creating lines. As you get older your skin gets thinner and more fragile and these sleep lines can be damaging. So unless you sleep on your back, you are creating lines. 100% silk doesn’t pull at your skin. It glides against your skin, thus no sleep lines.
Most of us sleep on cotton pillow cases. Cotton is very absorbent which is great in theory unless it’s absorbing off your really expensive night creams. Silk still absorbs, but much less so. This means face cream stays on your face not your pillow.
Here is the one I have – very affordable and 100% silk and it’s black! My hair stains everything!
Here has been my experience thus far:
Hair – Less frizzy in the morning, less tangles and looks cleaner. I can’t explain this cleaner looking thing. It could be coincidence.
Skin- In the morning my skin feels softer and more moisturized than normal. Totally necessary as it has been so dry in my apartment.
Other – My live-in boyfriend likes to keep our apartment rainforest hot. At night I end up waking up from being too warm. I have noticed that the silk pillow case has helped with this as it never really gets a hot as a normal pillow case. Also, my 18 lb cat that shares a pillow with me isn’t leaving his furr all over the pillow. SUCCESS. Oddly, his fur feels softer today. Hmmm. #catlady
