Review – theBalm® cosmetics Stainiac

17 Oct

I’ve been using theBalm® cosmetics Stainiac for a while, on and off, since I received it in a Birchbox.

What is it?

Similar to Benetint, this is a pink lip and cheek stain.

How is it different?

Instead of being a liquid stain, this is more of a gel. There is no strong scent, so you’re not smelling like roses. (wah, I love roses)

How does it work?

You can dab it on your lips and cheeks for a flush of natural looking color.  The shade is pretty universal, and I think it would work with a variety of complexions.

The tube comes with a doe tip applicator.

My thoughts…

I think this is easier to blend into your skin than Benetint, probably because it doesn’t run since it’s not a liquid formula.

The staying power is pretty low, I don’t think I’ve been able to make it through a work day with this.  Even when I use a makeup spray, it doesn’t seem to stay on my cheeks.

I didn’t use it on my lips, because I’m a fan of lipsticks not lip stains.  Plus, I don’t like to cross contaminate my products.  I know, I’m slightly crazy.

Pro-tip – and this goes with ANY cheek stain – USE YOUR MAKEUP SPONGE.  It makes a huge difference in how well you can blend the stains in your cheeks.

Have you tried theBalm® cosmetics Stainiac?  What’s your favorite lip and cheek stain?

I am just like you I hate cross contamination. I received this in my birch box as well and I used it for my lips and the staying power wasn’t the greatest like you said. Great Review.
