Beauty Box Subscription and Why I dropped Ipsy

(Back when I loved Ipsy)

I used to be such a huge fan of Ipsy, in most months I preferred it to Birchbox.  I loved the full-size products!  I loved the colors and shades! The lipsticks!  The lipstains!  The scrubs! Tools!  They sent me make-up brushes!  I loved it all! I even loved the make-up bags that came with the products each month.

Well, okay, I still like the make-up bags.  And I use many of them to this day.

Over time, I started to get really annoyed with the product repeats.  And product similarities.  How many black eyeliners do I really need to receive in one year?  I got NYX pallettes, a few months apart that were so similar in shades that at first glance I thought it was the same exact pallette.  It wasn’t; it was slighlty different shades of nudes/browns.  It was disapointing though, since the basic concept of these services are to introduce you to new products.

I especially stopped liking Be a Bombshell line they insisted on sending almost every month.  Even though I constantly downgraded those products.  I once complained about a mascara I received from Bombshell and I asked Ipsy to please stop sending products from this line.  They still continued to send them.  Finally, after a few months of not liking any product in my Ipsy bags, I decided to cancel the service.   It was a little sad because it was my first beauty box subscription that I was ditching.

I am still receiving Birchbox, and I may go back to Ipsy at some point.  I have also been considering cancelling Birchbox and getting into the more expensive monthlies that guarantee full-sized products.  However, Birchbox has introduced me to some really amazing products that I ended up purchasing. Some have become my staples, one of which is the Living Proof Dry Shampoo.

Time will tell!

So to date I tried:

Julep – cancelled

Ipsy- cancelled

Birchbox – still active

Have any of you guys cancelled your beauty box service?

Do you subscribe to any others? Ipsy is fun for a while, I just think they lack the diversity.
