September-ish empties 2018

8 Oct

It’s probably been about a year or more since I wrote an empties post.  When I started to think about getting back into blogging, I started collecting the empties here and there.  I’m sure there are a lot of items missing from here, but I tried to hang on to the products I wanted to talk about.  I’m also still debating whether to only include full size products or beauty box subscription products too.   I’m sure I will change my mind a 100 times.

So what did I use?   Fragrance?  Make up?  Hair?

HB4116

I will probably say a little something about each of the products.   So left to right, we have:

Simple Eye Make Up Remover Pads – These are pretty great and really affordable at just under $7.00.  One pad removes almost all of stubborn eye make up.

Calvin Klein Beauty – This fragrance is really light and fruity/citrus.   It is really great for work and I would get a lot of compliments.

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream – I buy this eye cream on and off and I still like it.

L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair Shampoo – I really like the Total Repair line.  I think it’s the best drug store shampoo and conditioner.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb – this is my favorite go to evening and special occasion scent.

Simple Cleansing Wipes – My go to, I use them as a make-up remover and also as a cleanser in a pinch.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet – this was an okay moisturizer.  Not remarkable but not terrible.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – one of the best setting sprays on the market, it just punches your wallet a little too much.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse – good product.  Recently reviewed on the site.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion – One of Holy Grails.

DermaE Purifying Daily Detox Scrub – I really like this line and this was a good scrub.

Drybar Bay Breeze Shot – this didn’t wow me, that’s all.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – I have no idea how to use these sprays so they are sort of lost on me.   I can’t even give an actual review 🙂  but, I didn’t end up with the feeling this product changed my life somehow.

Have you Lovelies tried any of these?  What did you think?  What were your Empties for September?  Link to your blog in the comments 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Review – Simple Micellar Cleansing Water

20 Oct

I have been using the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water every day for a number of weeks now, and I am ready to do a full review.

img_3889

I bought this at Walgreens for just under $8.00.

What they claim:

Smile, It’s Simple

Helps Cleanse, Remove Makeup & Hydrate

Kind to Skin

No Harsh Chemicals, Artificial Perfume or Dyes That Can Upset Your Skin

Simple® Micellar Cleanser Water is our most advanced yet gentle cleanse to date.  It is made with skin-loving ingredients, including Vitamin B3 and C, and Triple Purified Water, our purest possible water, to help remove contaminants known to irritate skin.  Our beauty benefits include:

Promoting a thorough cleanse:  Helping to remove make-up, dirt, impurities & unclog pores.

Helping to instantly hydrate skin:  Made with Triple Purified Water, skin loving ingredients & multi-vitamins, promotes an instant boost of skin hydration by 90%!

No residue:  Applied with a cotton round, Simple® Micellar Cleanser Water helps leave skin feeling fresh & revitalized, no rinsing required!

My thoughts:

At first, I was sort of weirded out that you use a cotton ball or pad to wipe your face clean.  To me, it seemed like a toner instead of  cleanser.  But I followed instructions, and did as I was told.

So?  OMG, I loved it.  My face felt so clean!  It didn’t sting.  It didn’t have any weird lingering scent.  It wasn’t sticky.  It just felt clean.

After a few weeks of use – my pores are smaller and visibly look cleaner.  I don’t have blackheads on my nose.  My skin looks good, and it’s been a pretty stressful few weeks for me.  But my skin looks GOOD!!!

A little of this goes a long way.  I barely used any of it from the bottle.  But I swear, I cleanse my skin daily!

This was the first micellar water cleanser I have tried.  I would like to try others, but this was is so good, WHY?  Right?

Have you guys tried Simple or other micellar water?

Thanks for reading!

My Birchbox Reveal – October 2016

19 Oct

Ann

I’m most excited about the Clarins serum!

I’m already a fan of Parlor hair products.

I’m neutral about the mascara.

I’m not sure what the butter is for, body or face.

What did you get?

Review – Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths

30 Oct

Sometimes, you received something in an Ipsy bag that you never thought you would like.  Example, Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths.

Historically, I hated cleansing cloths.  I even refused to use them while camping.  I thought they were filmy and smelly and didn’t leave you clean.  Worst of all, I hated not using a cleanser that you rinsed off.

Ipsy and Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths changed my mind.

wpid-20141019_095130.jpg

I received a Skyn product from Ipsy before that I never used.  So,  naturally, I scoffed at this.

But then, one day…I was tired.  And the thought of cold water on my face while all I wanted to do was crawl into bed was not inviting.

I looked at Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths and decided to give it a try.

Surprise!  I liked it!

One cloth cleaned my entire face.  It did a decent enough job on very heavy eye makeup.  If you are only wearing mascara, it should get it off completely.

Why I like it

No residue

No film

Not greasy feeling

Smells great!

CLEANS!!

My face felt nice, not tight or dry or greasy

There is some minimal eye stinging, but nothing too bad

They are only $15.00 USD

Would I buy?

YES.  It’s awesome to have these around in a pinch.

Have you tried Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths?  Do you like?

Review – NYX Butter Gloss

30 Jul

Ipsy gifted me with a lovely gloss from the NYX Butter Gloss line in Apple Strudel.  Given the name, I’m a bit surprised it’s a pink, but it’s a pretty shade.

wpid-20140722_190132.jpg wpid-20140722_190258.jpg

What I like

I like the coverage and the texture.  This gloss is really soft/silky?  I’m having a hard time trying to describe it.  One thing it is NOT, is sticky or gooey.

The shade I have is sheer, but still had a good color pay off.

The tube is clear so you can see the shade of gloss through it.

Doe foot applicator.

Smell and taste are sort of sweet.

No flash

Flash.  This was super shiny when I was trying to take a flash picture, so I apologize.

Another flash photo.

What I don’t like

Nothing 🙂  I think this is a great product.

Would I repurchase?

Yes, in other shades.  I think the Deep Red and Red are gorgeous for fall

Deep Red

Have you tried the Butter Glosses?  Do you like them?

Review – Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit SPF30/PA++

15 Jul

I am loving my Skin79 Super + Beblesh Balm BB Triple Functions (SPF50+ PA+++) that I ordered after trying my huge Asian cosmetic stash.  Click here if you missed it and are curious about Asian beauty products.  *side note – they are the bomb

I received a sample of the Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit SPF30/PA++ when I ordered the Skin 79 BB cream.

wpid-20140709_070750.jpg wpid-20140709_070904.jpg

Why I loved it

I loved the shade.  It was a perfect match for my crazy pale skin.  Although, with Asian brands, I’m pretty lucky that they match my paleness pretty well.

The texture is super nice.  Creamy and covering without being overpowering.

Kept me moisturized.

Didn’t get me oily.

Why I didn’t love it

I wish there was more!

Will I purchase?  Yup. Absolutely.  Already planning it.

Have you tried Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit SPF30/PA++?

Do you love it or do you have another Asian fave?

Review – Wet ‘n’ Wild Mega Plump Mascara in Waterproof

7 Jul

I haven’t used a Wet and Wild mascara since my Junior High days, and when I saw this at a CVS, I wanted to give it a shot.

The packaging is super cute!

wpid-20140630_175701.jpg

It’s very budget friendly at under $4.00 for the tube.

Okay, so what did I think of it?

Sadly, it wasn’t plumping at all.  It gave very light and natural looking coverage.

The formula is sort of dry, which contributes to the poor application of the product.

It was very waterproof.  It doesn’t run in heat or sweat.

It didn’t irritate my eyes.

I love the brush size, but I wish the formula was better.

wpid-20140630_175752.jpg

Would I repurchase?  Mmmmmaaaayyybeeeee

It’s inexpensive and fine for work, but I like more volume on my lashes.

If you are the type who likes to wear some make-up at the pool or beach, this maybe a good option for you.   This way, you will be wearing some eye product but won’t look super “done”.

Have you tried Wet and Wild mascara?

Review – Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion

16 May

I received a sample of the Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion in my Ipsy in April.  I realized that I never posted my April goodies, SO SORRY!!!

However, I loved this so much I needed to tell you lovelies.

wpid-20140419_112909.jpg

The sample lasted me a few uses.  I thought this was so phenomenal, I ordered a full size after the first use.

Why I love it –

This says that is mimics a salon/spa microdermabrasion and it really does.  I have never felt anything remotely close to a professional micro before this.  I  was sold, immediately.

If you have never had a professional microdermabrasion, expect to feel like there are a million little rocks/ crystals/diamond flakes scrubbing your face.   It doesn’t sting while you are doing it, but it doesn’t feel good.

Your face will be tender afterwards.  It can be red.  It can sting when you apply another product after, especially if it is anything “anti-aging”.

I use it twice a week like the company suggests, and I am loving the results.

SO MUCH CHEAPER than a salon/spa service.

Go get you some!
