Review – Beautiful Nutrition Lemon Fresh Rinse

6 Dec

Hello Lovelies!

I was trying to think back to all the concoctions I’ve put on my head over the years, and I honestly do not recall ever using a rinse before.  This was my first!

We all want shiny, healthy hair.  We all want to look like this:

shiny-hair-jlo

But we end up looking like this:

dry-hair

It’s a constant quest.  One product that promises to bring back the shine to your hair by removing residue and sealing cuticles is the Beautiful Nutrition Lemon Rinse.

lemon-rinse

From Beautiful Nutrition:

Rinse away product buildup, frizz and
dullness in an instant

Restart the clock on healthy hair. Over time, product buildup causes hair to look dull and lifeless. Lemon Rinse™ Gentle Clarifying Treatment returns hair to its natural glory with active lemon extracts that gently cleanse and tone, rapidly restoring weightless body and shine.
My thoughts:
This smells so amazing!  Like fresh squeezed lemons!!!
Does it make your hair shinier?
Yes, it doesn’t give you POW! type shine, but it does make your hair shinier.
Does it strip hair color?
It’s marked as color safe, and my color stayed intact after using it.
Does it make your hair bouncier?
A little, but I wouldn’t call this body building or volumizing.
Would I buy?
I think so.  It’s not a bad product to keep around, especially since it only costs $10.00.
Have you tried a rinse?  Do you like it?

What I’m testing now – Simple eye make-up remover pads

5 Dec

I heard some good things about the Simple Eye Make-Up Remover.  I have been trying to get my hands on the liquid version, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere in my area.   Since I ran out of Klorane, which I adored, I decided to pick up the wipes instead.

img_0327

These ran me around $6.00 for 30 pads.

I’ve used these a couple of times, and I’m still working on a full review of these babies.

Have you ladies used these?  Thoughts?

Review – Soap & Glory Hand Food

25 Nov

img_3890

Every time I look at this package, I think it says Hand FOOT.

Alas, it is a hand cream, not a foot cream.  And what a wonderful hand cream it is!

Here is what Soap and Glory says:

NON-GREASY HYDRATING HAND CREAM

Contains shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow . Scented with our Original Pink™ fragrance. The most astonishing hand cream ever? You decide!
My thoughts
It smells so nice.
It’s very hydrating.  I usually reach for this when my hands are dry and shriveled.  Within seconds of layering this one, my hands feel smooth and hydrated.  Best of all, the hydration lasts through a few hand washings.
Coincidentally, this does work really nice on the feet too 🙂
Will I repurchase?
Yes!  It’s super affordable and available at my local Walgreens.
Have you tried Soap and Glory?  Do you like it?
Thanks for stopping by!

Empties – November 2016

21 Nov

It’s been a long time since I did an Empties post.  I was collecting my empties and intended to do a “season” empty for summer.  However, the amount of all my empty products grew into a huge bucket of containers and it overwhelmed the heck out of me.  So I though it all away and decided to start fresh with November.

In November, I have used up 4 whole things.

FOUR

HAHAHA  I feel like a cosmetic failure of some sort.

Behold:

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo $23.00 USD available at Sephora.

All these items are on regular rotation and I buy them frequently.

Looking forward to reading everyone’s empties post.

Hair Tools – Getting curls while you sleep

7 Nov

On a whim, I feel in love with the vintage idea of setting your hair overnight to achieve a style.  I started looking into options for rollers I can sleep in.  And still manage to actually get a good night’s rest.

I spotted these and picked them up:

These are Diane By Fromm and I picked them up on Amazon for $12.00 USD

For that price you receive a whopping 42 spongy rods in various sizes.

That’s a great deal!!!

Last night, I did this:

img_0230

I know, you are super into my cat patterned nightgown.

And this morning, I look like this:

img_0231

I should have worn make-up HAHA

What I did:

I curled my hair wet.  There was a large piece in the front that didn’t dry all the way when I removed the rods.  As you can see the other side is very curly.

Was it comfortable to sleep in?

Yes, I hardly felt them on my head.  I was careful to place them so they wouldn’t be pressing into my ear or sides of my face.

Are the rods easy to install?

Yes, you roll the end of your hair first and then roll the hair on top of it.  The rods are long so if you have long hair, you can achieve more of a spiral curl.

Today or tomorrow I’m going to redo it on dry hair.

Do you guys use rollers?  Have you ever?

Review – Asian cosmetics – Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

27 Oct

I am still really into Asian cosmetics.  I discovered them a few years ago, and I find them to be overall better at what they are promised to do than the Western counterparts.  Also, even with shipping, they are more affordable than our prestige brands.

Etude House is a Korean brand and it has some pretty amazing other products, especially BB and CC creams.  Their toner has been on my radar for a while, but I was always hesitant on purchasing because I rarely use a toner.  Last month though, I finally got it.  Behold:

img_0106

The cost of this huge 8.45 oz bottle is around $11.00 USD.

You can buy it on Amazon and directly from Etude House.

From their website:

What it is

7-in-1 total pore solution freshener for intensive pore care.
Made of Anti Pore-Dex Complex & Astringentlex: For tightening up pores effectively

What it does

– Total pore solution: effectively cleans the inside and outside of pores with its special peppermint extract.
– This Freshner balances pH levels, makes skin pure like baby skin, and prevents skin troubles caused by pH imbalance.
– 7-in-1 Solution: Deep cleansing, sebum control, pH4.5 care, tightening pores, for clear skin, giving elasticity, moisturizing
– Harmless ingredients: WITHOUT mineral oil, fragrance, coloring, talc, animal ingredients, silicone oil

My Thoughts:

Pros –

has a very slight, pretty scent.  I can’t describe it, it just smells “girly” and fades quickly.

there is no stinging

my skin doesn’t feel tight or dry after

my pores are clean

my pores are smaller, which I think is also attributed to the Simple Micellar Water

Cons –

for me, there wasn’t any.

Have you ladies tried any Asian cosmetics?

What’s your favorite toner?

Sephora Play! October 2016

21 Oct

I love when the beauty boxes come back to back like that.  It’s like make-up Christmas for me!

img_0114

Look at that huge size for the Christophe Robin masque!

I got this last night, and today I wore that Smashbox lip product.  I’m in love .

This is my 3rd or 4th month of Play!, and I love it.  It’s $10.00 a month PLUS tax, so it ends up being about $10.66 or something for my area.

Bonus – you earn 10 Sephora points for each month when you sign up for the subscription.

I can’t wait to use all these and review them!

Are you a Play! fan?

Review – Simple Micellar Cleansing Water

20 Oct

I have been using the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water every day for a number of weeks now, and I am ready to do a full review.

img_3889

I bought this at Walgreens for just under $8.00.

What they claim:

Smile, It’s Simple

Helps Cleanse, Remove Makeup & Hydrate

Kind to Skin

No Harsh Chemicals, Artificial Perfume or Dyes That Can Upset Your Skin

Simple® Micellar Cleanser Water is our most advanced yet gentle cleanse to date.  It is made with skin-loving ingredients, including Vitamin B3 and C, and Triple Purified Water, our purest possible water, to help remove contaminants known to irritate skin.  Our beauty benefits include:

Promoting a thorough cleanse:  Helping to remove make-up, dirt, impurities & unclog pores.

Helping to instantly hydrate skin:  Made with Triple Purified Water, skin loving ingredients & multi-vitamins, promotes an instant boost of skin hydration by 90%!

No residue:  Applied with a cotton round, Simple® Micellar Cleanser Water helps leave skin feeling fresh & revitalized, no rinsing required!

My thoughts:

At first, I was sort of weirded out that you use a cotton ball or pad to wipe your face clean.  To me, it seemed like a toner instead of  cleanser.  But I followed instructions, and did as I was told.

So?  OMG, I loved it.  My face felt so clean!  It didn’t sting.  It didn’t have any weird lingering scent.  It wasn’t sticky.  It just felt clean.

After a few weeks of use – my pores are smaller and visibly look cleaner.  I don’t have blackheads on my nose.  My skin looks good, and it’s been a pretty stressful few weeks for me.  But my skin looks GOOD!!!

A little of this goes a long way.  I barely used any of it from the bottle.  But I swear, I cleanse my skin daily!

This was the first micellar water cleanser I have tried.  I would like to try others, but this was is so good, WHY?  Right?

Have you guys tried Simple or other micellar water?

My Birchbox Reveal – October 2016

19 Oct

Ann

I’m most excited about the Clarins serum!

I’m already a fan of Parlor hair products.

I’m neutral about the mascara.

I’m not sure what the butter is for, body or face.

What did you get?

New Purchases – Soap and Glory and Simple Micellar Water

23 Sep

A local Walgreens drugstore (thanks Park Ridge, Illinois!!!) has an entire display of Soap and Glory brand.  I was super excited to see this.  Of course, I wanted to buy everything.  However, reason prevailed and I bought one item.

img_3890

It cost me around $5.00.  With winter coming, I am happy to have this in my beauty collection.

My second purchase was from the brand Simple.

img_3889

I’ve been wanting to try micellar cleansing water for while, and then this appeared right in front of me.  So of course, I had to buy it.  I heard good things about this brand from other beauty bloggers, so I’m confident I will like this.  It’s marketed as a natural brand, and I like that.  I think I paid less than $10.00 for this bottle.

I can’t wait to do full reviews on these two!
