What I’m testing now – Simple eye make-up remover pads

5 Dec

I heard some good things about the Simple Eye Make-Up Remover.  I have been trying to get my hands on the liquid version, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere in my area.   Since I ran out of Klorane, which I adored, I decided to pick up the wipes instead.

img_0327

These ran me around $6.00 for 30 pads.

I’ve used these a couple of times, and I’m still working on a full review of these babies.

Have you ladies used these?  Thoughts?

~Thanks for reading!

Review – Klorane Waterproof eye make-up remover

4 Oct

Klorane Waterproof eye make-up remover with *bonus* soothing cornflower.

klorane

I received this sample in my Birchbox.  You can also get it from Sephora and it retails for $16.00 for a little over 3 fl oz.

What they claim:

What it is:
A bi-phase waterproof eye makeup remover with soothing cornflower.

What it does:
This gentle formula quickly removes all types of long-lasting makeup, even waterproof, and strengthens eyelashes without any oily residue. It is suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, and is enriched with cornflower extract to soothe and decongest.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates

What else you need to know:
This product is also hypoallergenic, ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested, silicone-free, phenoxyethanol-free, and vegan. It is formulated to reduce the risk of allergy.

Since the 12th century, cornflower has been used for its medicinal properties to relieve tired and irritated eyes. Its blue color was considered a token for healthy eyes.

Research results:
In a clinical study on eyelash loss after daily application of Klorane Waterproof Eye Make-Up Remover for 2 weeks:
– 75% reduction in eyelash loss was measured

My thoughts:

I will just come out and say it; this is probably the best eye make-up remover I’ve ever used.  There is absolutely no eye sting. Zero.   Nada.  Zilch.  My eyes don’t water, burn, itch.  NOTHING.

Does it remove eye make-up?

Yes, as good as any other eye make up remover.  Go over the eyelid a few times, let it soak into the lashes a bit and you are make-up free.

Do you have a reduction in eyelash loss?

Actually, maybe.  I had noticed the other day that I am losing less eyelashes.

Does it stay oily after using?

No

Will I purchase?

Yes, very much a yes.

Review – Wet ‘n’ Wild Mega Plump Mascara in Waterproof

7 Jul

I haven’t used a Wet and Wild mascara since my Junior High days, and when I saw this at a CVS, I wanted to give it a shot.

The packaging is super cute!

wpid-20140630_175701.jpg

It’s very budget friendly at under $4.00 for the tube.

Okay, so what did I think of it?

Sadly, it wasn’t plumping at all.  It gave very light and natural looking coverage.

The formula is sort of dry, which contributes to the poor application of the product.

It was very waterproof.  It doesn’t run in heat or sweat.

It didn’t irritate my eyes.

I love the brush size, but I wish the formula was better.

wpid-20140630_175752.jpg

Would I repurchase?  Mmmmmaaaayyybeeeee

It’s inexpensive and fine for work, but I like more volume on my lashes.

If you are the type who likes to wear some make-up at the pool or beach, this maybe a good option for you.   This way, you will be wearing some eye product but won’t look super “done”.

Have you tried Wet and Wild mascara?

June Empties!!!! What I Used Up!

1 Jul

How is it July already?   This year is flying by faster then Kim Kardashian changing husbands.  Oh snap!

I went through a lot of products in June.  Check this!

wpid-20140629_121549.jpg

Hair stuff

wpid-20140629_120919.jpg

Matrix Total Results Color Care Conditioner.  This is my current fave.  I’ve been using it for a few months.  I love it….but I’m getting bored.  I’ve been getting interested in TIGI again.  I love how that smells too.

wpid-20140629_121012.jpg

Nexxus Color Assure Shampoo and Conditioner.  This was a Birchbox sample.  Honestly, the samples were so small there wasn’t enough of either product for my hair.  Based on how much I was able to work into my hair, not impressed.   This may be due to how tiny the samples were.  Whatevers…I won’t be buying it.  If companies really want us to fall in love with a product, you need to give us an amount we can actually use.

wpid-20140629_121114.jpg

Fleur de Temps conditioner.  This was another Birchbox item.  Strangely, this came with shampoo of which there was a lot more than the conditioner.  Why?

This claims to be volumizing and it was. It frizzed me out so my hair was huge.

wpid-20140629_121136.jpg

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Conditioner.  I got this during a recent hotel stay.   I’m not the biggest fan of Aveda, I don’t complain when my room is filled with it.  I like the way this works on my hair.  It’s a fun change.

wpid-20140629_121218.jpg

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Leave In.  I loved the way this smells.  It did a good job on detangling.

wpid-20140629_121230.jpg

Big Sexy Hair Spray.  Love it!

Face

wpid-20140629_120931.jpg

ELF Make up Set and Mist – repurchase

wpid-20140629_121149.jpg

Glytone Toner – repurchase

wpid-20140629_121157.jpg

Beauty Junkees make up sponge.  I like it, but I want to try the Real Techniques one.

wpid-20140629_121240.jpg

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – a fave

Body

wpid-20140629_121047.jpg

Vaseline Intensive Care – repurchase

wpid-20140629_120905.jpg

Caress Daily Silk – meh

wpid-20140629_121501.jpg

Private Bloom Hamptons Perfume sample.  Pretty, but I wouldn’t buy it.

What did you use up in June?

May Empties Post! Products I’ve used up!

29 May

I didn’t have enough products for April to do a full post, so I waited an extra month to do this update.  Here are the products I’ve used up and quick thoughts about them.

wpid-20140524_123612.jpg

Shaving cream – a major staple.  It really does make for a better shave.  W both like Skintimate because it is inexpensive.  We blogged about it here.

wpid-20140524_123628.jpg

Another staple – eye brow pencil! Maybelline Define  A Brow pencil.  Easy to use and decent staying power.  To boost length of wear, top with Ben Nye Final Seal.  You’re welcome!

wpid-20140524_123825.jpg

I’ve already repurchased this.  L’oreal Shocking Extensions Mascara. Good stuff.

wpid-20140524_123811.jpg

I liked this, buy it is pricier from Elizabeth Mott.

wpid-20140524_123805.jpg

My current favorite cleanser right now, Clearasil Refreshing Superfruit Wash.

wpid-20140524_123745.jpg

On to…dry shampoo!!!!

Like Suave, will purchase again.

wpid-20140524_123641.jpg

This was okay, I’m not sure I will repurchase again.

wpid-20140524_123701.jpg

Some samples I’ve used up.

I kind of liked this lotion, I actually really liked the scent. Sort of smelled like pancakes. HAHA But I guess if you’re not down with smelling like food, this isn’t your thing.

wpid-20140524_123838.jpg

Joan Voss – a pretty spring scent.   I am undecided about this.

wpid-20140524_123853.jpg

Not my favorite Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab oil.

wpid-20140524_123903.jpg

I think I forgot to include this in my March Empties which had my huge Korean Stash.

wpid-20140524_123913.jpg

This smelled great, buy faded in 5 minutes on me.  Sorry Harvey Prince Cherrie Blossom! 😦

wpid-20140524_123938.jpg

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion – another staple in my collection.  I received a sample of a few formulas with my Naked 3.

wpid-20140524_123950.jpg

Have you lovelies used any of these?  What are your thoughts?

xoxo – A

Review! L’ORÉAL Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara a Benefit Dupe???

14 Mar

I’ve been using L’ORÉAL  Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara for about a month now,

wpid-20140217_140030.jpg

You can get it at Ulta or drug store for $9.99 USD.  Ulta link is here.

First, some pictures.

Without mascara

Here is the effect with L’ORÉAL  Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara

wpid-storagesdcard0PhotoEditor2014-03-11-08.35.23.png.png wpid-storagesdcard0PhotoEditor2014-03-11-08.35.53.png.png

Pic on left – no flash, Pic on right – with flash

I’m not wearing any mascara on the bottom lashes.

My thoughts

Obviously, the effect is pretty good.  I mean bam…lashes, right?!

The Pros-

Long lasting

Buildable

No smudging

Not cakey

Pow! Lashes!

Easy to remove with cleanser

No running

No raccoon eyes

Cons-

Flakes on bottom lashes.  I’m not having the problem with I wear it on my top lashes.

Would I repurchase?  Yes,  it’s ten bucks.  Great deal for a great mascara.

Is this a Benefit dupe?

The effect is very similar.  These are  my lashes on Yes, They’re Real.

L’Oreal is A LOT cheaper 🙂

Have you tried Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara?

February Empties!

13 Mar

I have been allergic to writing this post or something. Sorry it is so late.

wpid-20140311_124349.jpg

Matrix Total Results Color Care Conditioner.  I loved this stuff.  I am repurchasing.

wpid-20140311_124409.jpg

Eco Friendly Living Dry Shampoo.  This was an Etsy buy and I’ve reviewed it here.  It lasted me almost a year!  I really like this product and I will probably repurchase.  I alternate between this and drug store dry shampoos.

wpid-20140311_124415.jpg

Nivea Creme.  This was seriously a life saver during our coldest Chicago days.  I went through this tube in a month. I will remember to get this again next winter.  Seriously good stuff.

wpid-20140311_124440.jpg

Vaseline Total Moisture Cocoa Radiance.  Reviewed here.

wpid-20140311_124449.jpg

Pixi Lash Booster Mascara. Reviewed here.  I don’t think I will be buying this now that I discovered L’oreal!

wpid-20140311_124545.jpg

Armani Night fragrance.  I think this may be discontinued.  I finally forced myself to use up all my old perfumes.

wpid-20140311_124605.jpg

Beauty Protector reviewed here.

wpid-20140311_124619.jpg

Nailtiques – amazing. Proof here.

wpid-20140311_124628.jpg

L’occitane Hand Cream.  Lovely scent, but not as moisturizing as Nivea.

wpid-20140311_124640.jpg

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab oil imps in Cheshire Cat, Pool of Tears, Iambe.  I liked these, but I am moving away from oils now, so I am trying to go through my huge collection of BPAL imps.

Blwpid-20140311_124740.jpg

Korean BB samples.  That review is pending since I am still going through my sample stash.

wpid-20140311_124701.jpg

Hope you enjoyed!
