Review – Klorane Waterproof eye make-up remover

4 Oct

Klorane Waterproof eye make-up remover with *bonus* soothing cornflower.

klorane

I received this sample in my Birchbox.  You can also get it from Sephora and it retails for $16.00 for a little over 3 fl oz.

What they claim:

What it is:
A bi-phase waterproof eye makeup remover with soothing cornflower.

What it does:
This gentle formula quickly removes all types of long-lasting makeup, even waterproof, and strengthens eyelashes without any oily residue. It is suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, and is enriched with cornflower extract to soothe and decongest.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates

What else you need to know:
This product is also hypoallergenic, ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested, silicone-free, phenoxyethanol-free, and vegan. It is formulated to reduce the risk of allergy.

Since the 12th century, cornflower has been used for its medicinal properties to relieve tired and irritated eyes. Its blue color was considered a token for healthy eyes.

Research results:
In a clinical study on eyelash loss after daily application of Klorane Waterproof Eye Make-Up Remover for 2 weeks:
– 75% reduction in eyelash loss was measured

My thoughts:

I will just come out and say it; this is probably the best eye make-up remover I’ve ever used.  There is absolutely no eye sting. Zero.   Nada.  Zilch.  My eyes don’t water, burn, itch.  NOTHING.

Does it remove eye make-up?

Yes, as good as any other eye make up remover.  Go over the eyelid a few times, let it soak into the lashes a bit and you are make-up free.

Do you have a reduction in eyelash loss?

Actually, maybe.  I had noticed the other day that I am losing less eyelashes.

Does it stay oily after using?

No

Will I purchase?

Yes, very much a yes.

Permanent Dye Eyebrows at Home?

15 Sep

Ok, well sort of.   Well, permanent-ish.

Meet the Etude House Eye Brow Tint Gel.

etude-house-eyebrow-gel

This little miracle comes in 3 shades, Brown, Light Brown, and Gray Brown.

I bought mine in Brown because I have dark brow hair.

So what is this?  It’s a tint gel that you spread on your eyebrows (hair AND skin) sort of tracing where you would normally fill in your brows.

Here is what it looks like when applied:

It works best when you can leave it on for a long time.  I leave mine on over night. You sort of look like Groucho Marx while it’s processing, but whatever.

groucho

Once it dries, it won’t rub off on your bedding.

The next morning, you simply pull it off.   It pulls off usually in one long piece.

removedgel

Here is what the brows look like when “dyed”

eyebrows-finished

This is not cleaned up, I wanted you guys to get a good idea of what the results are like.  As you can see, there are still bits left on the end of my eyebrow hairs.

How much does this cost?

I got mine for under $10.00 on Amazon.

How long does it last?

About 3-4 days until it’s completely gone.  It does fade gradually every day.  You can prolong the result if you avoid putting cleaning products or moisturizer on your eyebrows.

This saves me a lot of time in the morning, because I don’t have to fuss with my eyebrows at all.  It’s super easy to use, if you make a mistake quickly rub it off.

I’m planning on trying other peel-off products soon, because I love the lasting results of this!

Have you tried the eye brow gel or something similar?

Review – You’re So FINE Liquid Eyeliner by Elizabeth Mott

10 Dec

You’re So FINE Liquid Eyeliner by Elizabeth Mott was in my October Ipsy Glam Bag.

I get a lot of eyeliners from Ipsy, so at first I wasn’t super thrilled to find another.  However, because this was a liquid liner, I was intrigued.

I used to rock the flick in High School like it was going out of style.  Back then, I loved my L’Oreal Liquid Liner.  We were buds.  In time, our live affair cooled and the cat eye flick became my lazy makeup day option.

You’re So FINE Liquid Eyeliner is on the more expensive side, you can pick it up online for $17.99.  This is not a drug store eyeliner, for sure.

image

What is it?

This is a waterproof liquid eyeliner with some flecks of glitter.  Yes, glitter.

Let’s break this down –

Brush – Awesome.   Thin, flexible, precise

Formula – Awesome. Not too thick, not runny.  Allows you to get a nice swoosh/flick the first time.

Staying power – Awesome.  I do use an Urban Decay primer because my lids are oily.  This eyeliner stayed on all day.  No transfer to the top of my eyelid.

Is it waterproof?

I guess so…  I mean, I didn’t go swimming with this or anything.  However, my eyes tend to water sometimes. I had no issues with the eyeliner running.

What’s up with the glitter?

Yeah, I don’t know.  It’s there.  It’s not super glitter. I wore it to the office, and it was fine.  This isn’t some raver glitter eyeliner.  It just sort of makes the eyeliner look more charcoal than actual dark black.

Would I buy?

Maybe.  I think I like it better than Push Up Eyeliner from Benefit.  They are just so expensive!

Have you tried You’re So FINE Liquid Eyeliner?  What are your thoughts?

Review – they’re real! push-up liner

31 Oct

Kassi got a few samples of these bad gals – the new cult favorite, they’re real! push-up liner

wpid-20141019_095522.jpg wpid-20141019_095543.jpg

I love how it looks like a little sword!  Benefit came to duel!

you killed my eyeliner, prepare to die!  (sorry, I couldn’t resist a Princess Bride reference)

they’re real! push-up liner is very different from any eyeliner I have ever used.

The formula is thicker, almost like a paste.

Surprisingly, it is really easy to maneuver around your eye.  Have trouble with the “flick”?  This will flick you, no problem.

Why I like it

It’s super dark and matte.

Really easy to apply

Doesn’t transfer easily

Does get closer to your lash line than other eyeliners

Slight complaint

It does smudge a bit after a few hours, and I used a primer

Would I purchase?

Most likely, yes.

It is pricey for an eyeliner, but in line with the higher end lines. It retails for $24.00

I don’t know how long it lasts since I only have a sample.  No clue if it dries out quicker than a liquid liner in a pot.

Have you tried the push up liner?  What do you think?

Review BareMinerals 5-In-1 BB Cream Shadow!

4 Aug

I wasn’t super excited when I received the BareMinerals 5-In-1 BB Cream Shadow in my Ipsy Glam Bag for July.

wpid-20140715_163257.jpg

I am normally not a fan of cream eye shadow.  My eyelids are naturally oily, so adding oil to them is a disaster.  And cream shadows are normally oily.

I eyed this suspiciously for a few weeks, but finally decided to give it a go.

So, how was it?

Well, I was surprised how not oily it was.

wpid-20140801_064432.jpg

From Ulta’s website:

 Details
Meet the next generation in eye shadow: creamy, long-wearing color meets exceptional skincare benefits and broad spectrum SPF protection. Chock-full of skin-loving ingredients, this breakthrough product delivers 5 benefits in one luxurious formula.

Benefits:

12-hour long-wearing color
Supercharged primer
Powerful brightening benefits
Smoothes the appearance of fine lines
Protects with Broad Spectrum SPF 15
Clinicals/Claims:
100% of women agreed their eyelids looked brighter instantly & over time.*
100% of women said their eyes appeared more youthful upon application.** Based on an independent consumer study
My review:

The BareMinerals 5-In-1 BB Cream Shadow is more of  a liquid than a cream.

I’m not sure what shade I received because it is not indicated on anywhere on the container.

Why I like it

It goes on wet, and quickly dries.  You apply it with a wand applicator.

It has great staying power.  The color payoff is intense.  It helps your eyelids look really smooth.

Why I don’t like it

You have to work really fast to blend it with your finger or sponge, otherwise it settles and dries and then you are stuck with it unless you remove it.

And I mean, FAST!

My thoughts

I think this is a great shadow to use alone for a pop of color.  I love how deep and flat the color is!!!!  I’m thinking my shade is one of the darkest of the collection, and I am curious about the lighter shades.

I did wear it with a primer, but I am going to try it without.  I think it will hold very well.

This retails for $18 at Ulta, so it isn’t cheap, but it’s not terrible for the quality.  I am already planning on buying  a different shade.

Have you tried the bareMinerals 5 in 1 BB cream shadow yet?

Beauty Protector Protect & Treat Hair Mask.  This is already sold out on Birchbox so it must be good. I haven’t tried it yet.

100% Pure Gingerade Shower Gel (Honey Cream Wash)

wpid-20140716_192919.jpg

Booklet sample page:

wpid-20140716_192735.jpg

The one thing I dislike about Birchbox, is the sample sizes of the bath and especially hair products.  Last time, the Nexxus shampoo/conditioner was so tiny, I couldn’t even use it properly because there wasn’t enough product to cover my hair.  LAME.

I’m a little happier this time the Beauty Protector Protect & Treat Hair Mask comes in two containers.

The shower gel sample is tiny though, even though it is two packets.

I’m excited to review the Marcelle New·Age 8 in 1 Power Serum.

How did your Birchbox unboxing go?

June Ipsy Bag! Pretty in Paradise

26 Jun

June’s Ipsy bag is super fun!  AND even though I have an irrational hate of pineapples, I do love the pineapple print on the bag itself.  🙂

wpid-20140612_070313.jpg

Almost every single item in this bag was a huge win for me.  I mean, like L.O.V.E.

NYX butter gloss – love

wpid-20140612_070321.jpg

Skinn Olive & Enzyme Cleanser – LOVE.  I love the scent of this, I love how it feels on my face.  I love how well it removes everything.
wpid-20140612_070332.jpg
Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner in Green.  SO MUCH LOVE.  This thing has serious staying power.  I even ran 2 miles in this stuff (disclaimer, I was wearing UD primer) and it stayed put.
wpid-20140612_070343.jpg
Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray – LOVE!  I’ve never used a beach spray before and was skeptical.  But I’m wearing it two days in the row now.
wpid-20140612_070426.jpg
The not so love – Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara
wpid-20140612_070412.jpg
I think be a bombshell is sort of hit and miss with their products, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  I’m not sure if this stuff was super old or dry, but it did NOTHING for my lashes.  Zip, nada. nothing.
Oh well
I loved everything else.

May Empties Post! Products I’ve used up!

29 May

I didn’t have enough products for April to do a full post, so I waited an extra month to do this update.  Here are the products I’ve used up and quick thoughts about them.

wpid-20140524_123612.jpg

Shaving cream – a major staple.  It really does make for a better shave.  W both like Skintimate because it is inexpensive.  We blogged about it here.

wpid-20140524_123628.jpg

Another staple – eye brow pencil! Maybelline Define  A Brow pencil.  Easy to use and decent staying power.  To boost length of wear, top with Ben Nye Final Seal.  You’re welcome!

wpid-20140524_123825.jpg

I’ve already repurchased this.  L’oreal Shocking Extensions Mascara. Good stuff.

wpid-20140524_123811.jpg

I liked this, buy it is pricier from Elizabeth Mott.

wpid-20140524_123805.jpg

My current favorite cleanser right now, Clearasil Refreshing Superfruit Wash.

wpid-20140524_123745.jpg

On to…dry shampoo!!!!

Like Suave, will purchase again.

wpid-20140524_123641.jpg

This was okay, I’m not sure I will repurchase again.

wpid-20140524_123701.jpg

Some samples I’ve used up.

I kind of liked this lotion, I actually really liked the scent. Sort of smelled like pancakes. HAHA But I guess if you’re not down with smelling like food, this isn’t your thing.

wpid-20140524_123838.jpg

Joan Voss – a pretty spring scent.   I am undecided about this.

wpid-20140524_123853.jpg

Not my favorite Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab oil.

wpid-20140524_123903.jpg

I think I forgot to include this in my March Empties which had my huge Korean Stash.

wpid-20140524_123913.jpg

This smelled great, buy faded in 5 minutes on me.  Sorry Harvey Prince Cherrie Blossom! 😦

wpid-20140524_123938.jpg

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion – another staple in my collection.  I received a sample of a few formulas with my Naked 3.

wpid-20140524_123950.jpg

Have you lovelies used any of these?  What are your thoughts?

xoxo – A
