Empties – December 2016

31 Dec

Last post of the 2016 year!  Happy New Year everyone!  What’s better than sending off the year than with a bunch of used up beauty products?  Am I right?   So what did I use this month:

december-empties

This month was full of International used up products haha.

From left to right:

e.l.f.  make-up mist & set reviewed here

Soap & Glory Hand Food – reviewed here

Clarins  Multi-Active Jour – reviewed here

Hot Heads Clean Shampoo – no review because this is only really for extension wearers and it’s not readily available.  However, I still wanted to include it since I used up the little that was left since I removed the extensions.

Ziaja hand creme.  This is a Polish skin care line.  The line is available online and even on Amazon. Here is an example

Tony Moly Pure Aura CC Cream – not a review for this cream only, but I do talk about it in this Korean cosmetic post.  It’s also one of my favorite CC creams ever.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Perfector – reviewed here

Air Repair Complexion-Boosting Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid – reviewed here

L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Lip Balm – reviewed here

Thanks for reading and see you Lovelies next year!!

Review – Montage Jennesse Chocolate Masque

2 Dec

I hardly ever buy masks.  I usually get enough of them in my beauty subscriptions, and I haven’t really seen the benefit in them.

However, they are a great way to pamper yourself and to get your skin Holiday party ready.

Recently, I decided to fix this beauty lack and incorporate facial masks to my beauty routine.  At my local grocery store, for a $1.99, I bought a package of Montage Jennesse Chocolate Masque.

If your store doesn’t carry it, fret not!  This line is abundant on Amazon.

image

What attracted me to this was the absolutely creepy picture of the lady on the package.  Mint and chocolate bars for eyes, crusty looking skin. I know it’s supposed to represent the mask.  I still don’t like it.  So I bought it! HA

What is it?

An anti-stress, pore cleansing mask

How does it work?

Slap it on, sit, wait.   Watch Grey’s Anatomy or Scandal.  It will get hard and dry.

It also has some pretty awesome ingredients.  I really like packaging, so I took a picture of the list:

What did I think?

First impression, this smells like cocoa.  So I fell in love.  Second impression, this made my skin really nice.  My pores were cleaner and smoother.

Bonus impression, the package is rather generous and you can easily get 3 uses out of this.

Will I repurchase?

Yes.  I also want to try their other varieties.

Have you tried the Montage Jennesse Chocolate Masque?  What did you think?

Booklet sample page:

wpid-20140716_192735.jpg

The one thing I dislike about Birchbox, is the sample sizes of the bath and especially hair products.  Last time, the Nexxus shampoo/conditioner was so tiny, I couldn’t even use it properly because there wasn’t enough product to cover my hair.  LAME.

I’m a little happier this time the Beauty Protector Protect & Treat Hair Mask comes in two containers.

The shower gel sample is tiny though, even though it is two packets.

I’m excited to review the Marcelle New·Age 8 in 1 Power Serum.

How did your Birchbox unboxing go?

New Obsession – Korean Skincare and Cosmetics

23 Jan

I have a growing obsession with Korean skincare and cosmetics.  After all, that is the birthplace of the BB and CC creams we’re currently rocking.

Their websites are  pink and girlie, I can’t stay away.

I have my eyes on these  from Missha

Missha Eye Stick Cream

Sometimes my skin around the eyes gets dry mid work day.  I love this idea of  stick eye cream, GEUMSUL VITALIZING STICK EYE CREAM $30.00

Here is what it says:  “Herbal eye care for healthy, luminous eyes.
Mild formula hydrates and protects delicate skin around eyes.
Stick type eye cream can be applied liberally and easily over and or under makeup.

Contains herbal ingredients to strengthen sensitive skin. Panax Ginseng Seed Oil protects, Safflower Oil moisturizes, and Evening Primrose Oil brightens skin.”

COMPLEXION COORDINATING BB

COMPLEXION COORDINATING BB SPF43/PA+++ NO.2 FLAWLESS COMPLEXION $34.00

From Missha – “Complexion Coordinating BB Cream SPF43/PA+++ gives you a clean, even more natural look! No.2 Flawless Complexion is a flaw correcting beige cream for clear and smooth skin.

3. Moisturizing – Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Water
4. Soothing – Phytoncide, Cactus Extract

Outer Complexion Coordinating System:
1. Improve skin tone – Tripled Layered Color Capsules
2. Correct flaws – Skin Wrapping Powder
3. Even skin texture – Light Scattering Powder

Shade is comparable to M Perfect Cover #21 Light Beige – #23 Natural Beige.”

SUPER AQUA OXYGEN MICRO ESSENCE PEELING

SUPER AQUA OXYGEN MICRO ESSENCE PEELING $23.00

“The gel-type peeling essence is gentle and gives an intensive care to clean and hydrate skin.
Watch as it bubbles to remove dead skin cells, impurities, and oil.
The Oxygen Micro Peeling System has the benefits of peeling + nourishing + soothing + turn-over.”

Have you used a cosmetic from an Asian brand before?  What did you think?

Beauty Box Subscription – Update to what we get

16 Jan

Once upon a time I wanted to cancel my Julep monthly subscription and get another beauty box.

sleeping-beauty-photo

This week my wish came true, and now are are both subscribers to Birchbox!  To update, I will now be receiving Ipsy and Birchbox.  These are both $10.00 per month, which means I am still saving money from what I paid for Julep. Julep was $20.00 month.

I may add yet another subscription to my month since I’m used to spending $30.00 and now I’m *only* spending $20.00 HAHA.

Review: Michael Todd True Organics Pumpkin Mask

13 Sep

I was so excited to receive the Michael Todd True Organics Pumpkin Mask in my August Ipsy Glam Bag because I haven’t used a mask that I haven’t cooked up myself in my kitchen in a long time.  So yes, very excited.

mTODD

This is a rather generous sample of 1 fl oz.  I expect it to last me a while.

The Pumpkin mask is an exfoliating mask with a 5% Glycolic Acid and other enzymes.

My review:

I exfoliate often and I get peels and microdermabrasions.  I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to feel the telltale burn/tingle of the glycolic acid doing it’s job when I applied it.

The color and smell, I can live without.  It’s orange and pumpkin, and it sort of reminds me of baby food.  If you get down with Gerbers, you will probably dig this smell a lot more than I did.  On the upside, the smell fades quickly.

This doesn’t dry cracked or uncomfortable, and it’s easy to forget you have it on your face.  Also, the tingling fades away after a minute or so, and there is no discomfort.

I love that this is organic!  We hate putting a lot of chemicals on our faces, and are slowly shifting to a more natural beauty regiment.

Does it exfoliate?  Yes, but you need to do it a few times especially if your skin is used to harsher chemicals.  I think this is a really nice compliment to my existing exfoliation/peeling routine that I have going on.  It’s not hard to over do it on this stuff, and this is mild enough to use while I’m taking a break from my harsher acids.

Side note – the highest % of a glycolic acid product I have is 20%.

From Michael Todd:

This mask smells so much like fresh pumpkin you will think it’s Thanksgiving. And exfoliant lovers will give Thanks! That tingle is the pumpkin enzyme combining with glycolic acid to go to town on your skin’s flaws dissolving impurities like dead skin and clogged pores. Adds brightness and radiance to the skin and significantly improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles after a single use.

If you thought that masks were only for mature skin types…think again!  The key to clearer skin is to unclog pores, reduce bacteria and nourish, tone and heal on and below the skin’s surface. Today’s masks from MICHAEL TODDtrue organics do all that transforming dull, lackluster skin into clearer irresistible complexions.

Have you tried any other Micheal Todd products?  What did you think?

Lips – Top Picks

10 Sep

Not going to lie but I am kind of a lipstick noob.   I didn’t really wear it until this year (aside from a bad stint in high school when I though dark / black lips were cute on me.)

After experimenting, reading reviews, spending a bunch of cash.  I have decided these are my favorites:

LUSH – Lipstick $18.95: Highly pigmented, cute colors and they go out of the way to help you find your perfect shade at the Lush Store. It also has jojoba oil and rose wax to help moisturize your lips.

Image

Stila – Stay All Day lipstick $22: I received a sample of this in my August Birchbox and I just love it.  Has staying power and feels weightless.  The red shade (Beso) I have is perfect!

Image

MAC- Lipstick $15: A cult classic for a reason.  They have so many shades, so you will certainly find yours.  The staying power isn’t as good as the two previous liquid lipsticks but I still love it.  (especially their reds and pinks).

Image

NYX Matte Lipstick $6:  My go-to drugstore lipstick.  I love the matte finish and $6 is freaking cheap.

Pixi Beauty mascara

Smashbox primer

Micabeauty eye shadow

Michael Todd face mask

I love every single product in this glam bag, and I have been using them regularly.  With the exception of the Smashbox primer, which has been reviewed and loved ad nauseum, I will do a review of all these goodies.

Thanks Ipsy!!!!!
