Nostalgic for 90s perfumes

16 Jan

Once in a while, I reminisce about the scents I wore in High School and College.  Some of those, I really miss.  Do you have lovelies ever get those moments?

Here is what I’m missing right now:

lizclairborne

Clairborne, by Liz Clairbone.  It used to come in these wonderfully colorful plastic covered bottles!  I loved the red ones!  The scent is unmistakable and unforgettable. Crisp, floral, light.  I love this fragrance and have been considering buying it again now.

tusconyperdonna

Tuscany Per Donna by Estee Lauder.  I was so in love with this scent when I was 17 and 18. It was warm and sensual, and it made me feel beautiful.  I felt invincible when I was wearing Tuscany Per Donna.  It looks like this still in product just like Clairbone, but the bottle has changed a lot.  I also can never find it at a brick and mortar store, and I’d really like to try it before I buy it.  Because what if I hate it now?  AmIright?

ilbacio

Il Bacio By Borghese.  I think this was one of the first scents I bought at Lord & Taylor and received a gift with purchase.  Free gift with fragrance purchase was a game changer for me at the time.  I remember this being a musky scent.  Very grown up, or so the 19 year old me thought.  I think this fragrance is completely out of production at this point.   I’m only able to find it on market places and the prices are sort of all over the place.  I also don’t know how a 20 year old fragrance can hold up and retain its scent integrity.

colorsby-benetton

Colors by Benetton was the first perfume I ever asked for from “Santa”.  I smelled it on my cousin and immediately coveted the scent.   It’s still in production, the bottle is different (I hate it!! Why is it green?), and I have no idea if it smells the same.  It was crisp, what I thought at the time, almost unisex.  It seemed modern and hip, and I was 14 so who knows what it really smelled like.

vanilla-fields

I recently bought Vanilla Fields by Coty for my mom, and it’s still as lovely as I remembered.  It’s the perfect vanilla scent.  Nothing more nothing less.  It’s warm, it’s feminine, it’s divine.  I’m getting this for myself soon.

exclamation

Ex’cla-ma’tion was another Coty fragrance.  Available in your local drug stores and inexpensive enough to save your allowance to purchase.  I actually don’t even remember how this smelled. I do remember it was strong and intense and I think flowery.  I don’t know if this is still in production, but I think I remember seeing it in the past year.

I hope you enjoyed my stroll down memory lane.

Are there any beauty products you remember fondly?

Not a beauty post – summer jewelry trends I want to see

1 Jun

I love the 90’s.  Like, LOVE the 90’s.  I love the decade when Victoria Beckham was know as Posh Spice. I still watch SpiceWorld, okay?  What?  You have never seen it?  OMG, the best, treat yourself and watch it. “And I’m Victoria, Malcolm!!!!”   Buzzfeed did a piece on this masterpiece.

Thinking of the 90’s and its fashion trends, I’m hoping that anklets and toe rings make a come back this summer.  What, you hate them?  Pssshhhh. They are pure awesome.  Check out these:

anklet1

$11.47 from BeckeringhDesign

anklet2

$15.00 from 88Links

anklet3

$21.95 ChanyaAndFriends

anklet4

I love this for the beach!

$26.50 NightingaleWorkshop

ToeRing1

$14.79 WormChildJewellery

toering2

$20.00+ Carteohandmade

Toering3

$18.00 cutterstone

I think the smoother the toe ring, the more comfortable it will be to wear.  Big designs or stones can hurt.

What do you think of fancy feet?  Do you like jewelry around your ankle or toes?
