15 Oct

Black Honey has a cult like following since its release years ago.  It’s a great product!  Very universal, easy to apply, easy to wear.  I haven’t met a girl who didn’t look great in Black Honey

Almost Lipstick

Black Honey Clinique $15.00

But I think I found a pretty good dupe from Cover Girl

COVERGIRL LipSlicks Lipgloss

This is the Cover Girl Lipslicks Lipgloss line in Daring $5.99

See for yourself:

The Cover Girl version is slightly less pigmented on the initial application.  However, this doesn’t seem to be the problem when you run it over your lips a few times.

Check it:

Verdict:

Is there really a difference??? Other than in price?

If you are on a budget, and don’t want to shell out $15.00, save your wallet and go for the Cover Girl version.  You won’t be disappointed.

The Math:

Save yourself $10.00.  Buy more makeup.

DIY – Coffee Sugar Scrub

16 May

Turns out, using coffee in a scrub actually has some benefits other than making your body smell like heaven and your skin feel amazingly smooth.

  • Caffeine has anti-inflammatory properties and also helps to speed the healing of skin wounds.
  • Caffeine typically aids in blood flow which helps prevent varicose veins and cellulite.
  • Caffeine is a natural antioxidant which help reduce age spots and wrinkles

Recipe:
1 cup Coffee Grounds (used or unused)

1/2 cup Coconut or Olive oil
1 cup Sugar (I recommend raw cane sugar)
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 Tbs Ground Cinnamon

Mix together and you are done.il_570xN.451666197_gaqq

How to use:  Apply to damp skin in the shower, scrub, rinse off.

Seriously this scrub is so easy to make that you can do it in under 5 minutes.  Just make sure to use it within about 5 days or it will start to go bad.

“It smells so good you will want to eat it!”

Tumeric – facial mask from your own kitchen

23 Apr

Your Fairy Godmothers are huge fans of facial masks.  They are a nice pampering experience and do have added beauty benefits.

Recently, we were introduced to a spice called Tumeric.  Tumeric is a spice native to South Asia with many health benefits when ingested and applied on to the skin.  It can help with discoloration and  psoriasis! Cheers for a bright complexion !  You can pick up tumeric in powder form in the spice section of your grocery store.

Click here http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/20-health-benefits-of-turmeric.html and here http://multiculturalbeauty.about.com/od/Skincare/a/Turmeric-For-Beauty.htm for all the benefits of this exotic spice.

So what do we do with this stuff?  We put it on our precious faces, of course!

Pro – Tip : Radiant skin on a budget

17 Apr

Ladies, exfoliating your lovely faces is a must in your regular beauty routine. How else do you think we are able to keep our youthful appearances?

Certain friends in the med spa business have told us “Girl, you need to scrub daily!”  And because we listen to anyone in a lab coat, we do.

There are so many products on the market aimed to exfoliate and scrub and promise to reveal a more youthful you. A lot of those products are really good, but the costs add up. Especially if you are looking to do this every day. Also to keep in mind, many drug store scrubs are actually very harsh and can break capillaries causing damage to your skin. Dreadful!

Don’t fret, we found a solution in the form of raw silk!

What it is – MicrodermaMitt $27.00 for 1

Manuka Honey Night Revival Cream – how to save your dry face for under $20.00

10 Apr

This past Winter was a real jerk in the Midwest USA.  Cold, more cold, snow, snowier, colder.  And it kept on going.  Whatever, it’s still going!  It’s all good though because we found the perfect solution to painfully dry winter skin. (Also, this was found by a BOY!  We’re not joking.)

ManukaHoney

The first night we applied this, we woke up with the softest and hydrated faces we’ve had in a long time. (read – WEEKS).

So what is this stuff anyway? – Key ingredients: Pure Manuka Honey, vitamin E & Neroli oil.  No joke, Manuka Honey is a miracle.  It helps to heal, it helps to calm, it helps to moisturize like it’s nobody’s business.  It helps with skin conditions like rosacea and acne.

Is this really greasy and will it make me break out? – It’s not greasy.  It is absorbed into your skin relatively quickly.  As for break outs, we didn’t experience any and neither did our friends.  However, each skin is different ; we hope if you try it you will love it as we do.

ProTip – for super dry skin, this can be used during the day.  It works well blended into foundation or your V-Primer.

This is only $15.00 for 3.3 oz available at http://korunaturals.com/ or through Amazon.

Yes, Old Man Winter is slowly inching his way out.  But, it won’t be long until your skin is sun parched and will need a moisturizer with more punch.  Invest now and don’t suffer in July.

Stay lovely, my pretties!
