What I’m into right now – Brown Eye Liner

6 Dec

I received a double ended brown/black liner from Julep a while ago and I got one from Paula Dorf years ago.  I fall in and out of love with this shade, but right now I’m way hard into it.

Big bonus – you can go heaver on the liner for work.

It looks appropriate for fall/winter.

Blends nicely with other browns and neutrals for the season.

Since it isn’t as harsh as black, you can get away with a festive red lip at work as well.  Big bonus…this girl likes her red lips.  MWAH!

Julep – Finally cancelled!

19 Nov

So, success?

To recap, I made the initial call to cancel my Julep Maven Monthly Subscription on Tuesday the 12th.  I received the confirmation of the cancel request on Tuesday, the 19th.

Perhaps I am jaded in our instant gratification lifestyle, but I think if a company is willing to take your money and subscribe you immediately it should be willing to let you go just as fast.

I was seriously worried that they wouldn’t accept my cancellation in time and I would be charged for another month.  That’s sort of a crazy fear, isn’t it?  I don’t think I should have to worry about something like that especially if I made the cancellation request in ample time before their billing date.

But, I was worried.  Especially since a girl on their Facebook page said she had been waiting for over a week for them to get back to her about her cancellation request.

I am not knocking Julep’s products. I’m not even dissatisfied with their service, I just didn’t want more nail polish and I wanted to try another beauty box.  Their boxes were always shipped timely, always packaged beautifully, and their product quality is great.

It’s just this cancellation thing that has me seriously upset.  Upset enough to complain about it on here, A LOT.  🙂 So thanks for listening!

I really hope Julep makes changes to how they handle cancellations.

Nails – how to wear black nails at work

30 Oct

I have a corporate job with a crazy strict dress code.  Although I push the dress code A LOT (have you seen the color of my hair??  https://fairygodmotherbeautyblog.com/2013/10/26/annas-new-hair-red-with-black-streaks-take-2/

That said, I’m not down with completely being the weird chick at work.  Even though I wanted to wear black nails for a while, I didn’t feel brave enough to rock the boat more.

So, I self compromised with how I wore black nails.  Both of these are from Julep.

The black is actually matte-ish, looks like latex.

I feel accomplished.

Your skin is the biggest organ on your body  – Is it just me or does that sound kind of creepy?  But really – it’s true!  If you want to look and feel your best you need to take care of your skin.  What you eat and how much you drink is really essential to that, so please bare that in mind.  Also, if you have persistent skin issues; bad acne, redness, etc that makes you feel like you don’t even want to leave the house even with a spatula’s worth of foundation on – I strongly urge you to see a Dermatologist.  Your issues might be easily treatable and your confidence boosted.

October 2013 Julep Maven Box

15 Oct

Kassi and I disagree on our love of Julep…I love …Kassi not so much.

I am never disappointed in my Maven Boxes.  I always love the color picks and the beauty products.

This month is no exception.

20131005_145525

And the beauty product?  An dual eye liner and a sharpener.  One end is glittery brown, the other black.  The Black end is amazing for tight lining your eyes.   And I’m terrible at the tight line.

These nail colors are crazy good.

September 2013 Julep Maven Box – Bombshell box!

11 Sep

2013-09-04 20.39.42 2013-09-04 20.37.13

I’m a bombshell now!  I am loving on the bronzey/winey/glittery one called Karmen.  I’m rocking it right now.  Boom, glitter nails.

The real winner of this box is the facial cleansing oil.  It is called the Bare Face Cleansing oil $22.40 if you are a Maven, Otherwise it’s $28.00.

My review:  This actually takes off most of my waterproof mascaras.   The formulas that an actual makeup remover had trouble removing, this stuff succeeds.  It smells so good.  Sort of citrusy. Feels good on the skin, and It is actually helping with my stupid blackhead problem on my nose.

For real, I now look forward to washing my face at night.  Unless this gives me a wart or something catastrophic, I will dish out the $20+ for this gem.

From Julep:

Bare Face Cleansing Oil: This lightweight, antioxidant-rich cleanser gently and thoroughly dissolves makeup, dirt, and excess oil without over-drying skin, then rinses clean with no oily residue. Recommended for all skin types.

Features & Benefits:
  • Enriched with Julep’s proprietary Power Cell Complex™, a trio of skin-boosting superstars
1) Rosehip seed oil – a nourishing oil (and natural source of vitamins A and C) that helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and post-acne marks. Contains natural fatty acids that bond moisture to skin
2) Malvaceae Lipid Extract™ – a lipid complex that provides immediate and long-lasting hydration and works to rebuild skin structure from the inside out
3) Green coffee bean oil – a natural anti-inflammatory that promotes cell turnover
  • Formula includes grapeseed oil, a natural antioxidant that protects skin from harmful free radicals, and olive oil, a natural source of vitamin E that softens and helps prevent post-cleansing dehydration

First Empties Post!

16 Aug

All the beauty bloggers and vloggers always do an Empties post, so why shouldn’t Your Fairy Godmother.

We use stuff too 🙂

2013-08-16 09.56.29

I have two (yes TWO) Dr. Who lunchboxes because I am a fanatic.  As you know, one is my mani kit, and the other is my Empties kit.

I will admit, I got really excited when I finally had enough empties to do post.  On first glance, I use a lot of lotion.

lotion

Yeah, I went there….because this movie is freaking fantastical!

Ok, so let’s see what I used 😉

2013-08-15 18.25.31 2013-08-15 18.23.46 2013-08-15 09.27.08 2013-08-15 09.25.39

Julep Beach Tonic was probably my favorite item from my Empties.  I loved this smell and it was so perfect for summer.

100% Pure as my second fave, and I loved this scent for night time.  It was Coconut, and it was so light and relaxing.

Bath and  Body Works in Rasberry.  So yummy and perfect for spring and summer. I layered it with the corresponding body spray  .

Mountain Ocean Skin Trip was another organic lotion in Coconut.  It was nice, but too light for my dry skin.

2013-08-15 09.23.09 (1)

Apotheke Coconut Jasmine Perfumed After Bath Tonic.  This paired nicely with my coconut scented lotions.  I guess I really liked coconut this summer!

2013-08-15 18.28.19

Argan Oils Face & Body Serum.   I wanted to use this on my face, but ended up allergic.  So I used it on my hair and it seemed to really moisturize it during the winter. I will probably repurchase this again.
2013-08-15 18.27.04
And I retired a pair of fake lashes.  I think I wore them since New Years Eve, it was time for a new pair sometime in April.
Elf Lashes for $1.00!!!!!   Seriously.  Go.Get.You.Some.  I know we blogged about these before.  They are so good.
What products have you used up lately????

Review! Julep Maven August Box

8 Aug

Julep3

I love the Julep Maven Box!  I’m shallow, I really like the packaging.  I like how everything is all pretty and matchy.  Totally worth the $20.00 /month price tag, yes?

The theme for this month was flowers 🙂

And my add on was …. Forget Me Not Seeds.  I will plant these at home at some point.  Maybe in the winter, when I’m wishing for spring.

Julep2 Julep1

I already used this yellow polish.  It reminds me of candy eggs, like the Cadbury kind.  I want to eat my fingers.   Ok, kidding.  I will probably love this color for spring next year

The blue is super deep.  It will look amazing on my toesies.  Can’t wait!

The beauty product this month? Doublestep Foot Treatment and Friction Stick.  $22.00 or $17.60 if you are a Maven,

I haven’t used it as a friction protection yet.  Since I’m mostly living in sandals and flip flops, I ‘m not having angry feet.  But, this works nicely as a foot moisturizer.

What did you think of this month’s Maven box?
