Ipsy December 2013

20 Dec

Here is what I received in my December 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag

Ardell Natural Lash.  We are a huge fan of fakies here at Godmother Beauty.  Ardell is one of my go – to brands of lashes so I was excited to get these.  I usually get a lot of uses out of one pair.  Go-go-Gadget Lashes!

The Nicka K New York in Classic Toupe.  Some people are hating on this color, but I sort of like it.  It’s classic, it’s safe for work, and I will probably get a lot of wear out of it during these dark Winter months.  From Ipsy – ” Formula is free of DBP, Toublene, and formaldehyde. ”  I like that!!!

Be A Bombshell – The One Stick in Girl Crush.  This can be used on eyes, lips, and cheeks.  I like the idea of a cream blush, so I’m excited to try this for Spring.  I’m not sure how I dig putting cream anything on my lids since I have enough problems keeping them oil free.

Pop Beauty – Bright Up Your Eyes Trio in Smokin’ Hot.  – Love this!  Such great colors and great pay off.  I will do a full review of this palette super soon.

NYX Ultra Creamy Round Lipstick in Iced Honey. I haven’t even cracked this open yet because the color is pink.  I am saving this for Spring.

I’m pretty happy with this Glam Box.  Lovely to have couple of products that I am exited to use in a few months.  Makes Spring seem that much more enticing.

What did you think of this month’s Ipsy?

Julep November 2013 Maven Box

8 Nov

Here is my latest Julep box.  I need to admit that as much as I enjoy Julep, I am considering cancelling the monthly subscription.   At this point I have more nail polish bottles than I can probably use in a life time.

I wish there was an option to temporarily suspend the service instead of opting to skip every month or cancelling.  I don’t receive the monthly email from Julep letting me know my box was ready and this is the time to place it on hold or send to someone one.  And I keep track of way too many things in my life to add one more thing I need to worry about…so yeah…I am cancel.  Let me know of other beauty boxes that are on the market.  I already get Ipsy and Kassi gets Birchbox.

Review! Julep Maven August Box

8 Aug

I love the Julep Maven Box!  I’m shallow, I really like the packaging.  I like how everything is all pretty and matchy.  Totally worth the $20.00 /month price tag, yes?

The theme for this month was flowers 🙂

And my add on was …. Forget Me Not Seeds.  I will plant these at home at some point.  Maybe in the winter, when I’m wishing for spring.

Julep2 Julep1

I already used this yellow polish.  It reminds me of candy eggs, like the Cadbury kind.  I want to eat my fingers.   Ok, kidding.  I will probably love this color for spring next year

The blue is super deep.  It will look amazing on my toesies.  Can’t wait!

The beauty product this month? Doublestep Foot Treatment and Friction Stick.  $22.00 or $17.60 if you are a Maven,

I haven’t used it as a friction protection yet.  Since I’m mostly living in sandals and flip flops, I ‘m not having angry feet.  But, this works nicely as a foot moisturizer.

What did you think of this month’s Maven box?

Anna’s mani/padi kit!

29 Jul

Good Morning, Lovelies!

This is my nail kit.  I’m super proud of it because I think I may be The Doctor.  Just saying.

This is a lunchbox which now stores my nail polishes, remover, files, and other accouterments. is also ridiculously convenient.   Because I have everything I need in one cute place.

Go get you some organization!

Julep – why it’s annoying….

15 Jul

Ok, Julep is a cute little service that sends you a monthly beauty box.  Most of it is hand or nails centered.  I gave it a try but I don’t personally feel like it’s worth the $20 a month (anna likes it and is keeping it.)

But the SUPER annoying thing is that they make it impossible to cancel.  You have to call the between specific hours as they can not cancel your account online for “security reasons.”

The annoying part is I signed up for just one month and they started me on a complete subscription   I guess I should have read the fine print.  Aww well, my bad.

I called the cancelation number.  After 6 mins on hold I was transferred to a voicemail that told me to leave my info and that they would take care of it when they were done helping other customers.  Just seems shady.  How come it’s a security risk if I cancel on a secure https site that took my credit card info but not a risk to leave a voicemail on some phone line?

*update 2*

account cancelled. Received an confirmation email an hour after I called.

DISCLAIMER-  I am not complaining about being charged for the subscription I accidentally (yes, i take ownership of this) signed up for when getting the free box but I am complaining about how it is complicated to cancel your account.

Beautiful Strong Nails

1 Jul

Ok so I have extreme nail envy due to seeing Anna’s amazing nails Saturday night.  Her and I have similar breakage and peeling issues, or at least we did.  She started using Nailtiques protein treatment and now her nails look like she has a gel manicure.  NO JOKE.

ImageI woke up Sunday morning and the first thing I thought was “I need Nailtiques asap” so I went to Ulta, used my $3.50 coupon and bought the heck out of it.  Here are some reviews: CLICK.  It’s $9.50 for the .25Oz and $17.50 for the .5oz.  Not cheap, but worth it if your nails break and peel like mine.

My nails already feel stronger!  It’s nuts!!!!  You need this.  -kassi
