90s Perfumes – I did get one!!!

10 Sep

You guys remember when I got  Nostalgic for 90s perfumes?   So I did satisfy my craving and I ended up with two of my 90s favorites.  One I already went through, I got a little obsessed and it was perfect for the winter.  Yes,  Vanilla Fields got my through the Chicago winter while smelling of fresh baked cookies and fields of vanilla beans.

For Christmas, my good friend bought me Exclamation!  I am still using it daily.  It’s a nice sweet scent for summer and it does remind me of my Junior High and High School days.

So what does it smell like and do I still like it?  Honestly, it smells a lot sweeter than I remember.  I’m not sure if the formula had changed or if my style had changed.  Basically, this smells like if you were to stick your face in a giant bag of Jolly Rangers and inhaled.  That is how Exclamation! smells.  I like candy, so I think this is delightful.  If you prefer a citrus and spice based fragrance, you will probably not like this.

I do prefer muskier scents now, so I’m not really sure where the Vanilla Fields obsession fits in, but whatevs.  But, yes, I still like it.  As I said, I wear it frequently and it works as a good day times/office scent.

In case you are interested in trying this 90s gem, I got mine at Sears.  I think I have also seen them as Walgreens.   I am sort of happy this scent has stuck around.

Thanks for reading!!

xoxo

Review – Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black and White Perfume

17 Jan

I was lucky enough to get the last samples from my local Sephora of these cute perfumes.

If you are not familiar, Elizabeth & James is the fashion company owned by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.  Yes, THOSE Olsens.

YOU GOT IT, DUDE!

Anyway, I have been very eager to try these scents.  As I predicted, I liked the Nirvana Black much more than the White.  The White is too floral for me and makes me think of my Grandma.  The Nirvana Black smells like a sexy candle, in a good way.  I really like it – but I am not going to be purchasing it.  The reason for this is that it has no staying power on me.  After about 3 hours its completely gone, and I even made other people smell me -FOR SCIENCE!  For $70 for a 1.7oz bottle, I want staying power.

I really wish it worked for me.  I love the smell and the packaging, but its sadly a disappointment.  Maybe your body chemistry will work better with it, but make sure you go get a sample first.  Sephora makes samples of ANY of their perfumes.  Super handy as all perfumes smell different on different people.

Guilty Pleasure? New perfume for 2014 by the Olsen Twins

3 Jan

I don’t know what is wrong with me but I REALLY want to check out the new perfume from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s company Elizabeth and James.  There are two “twin” fragrances- Nirvana White and Nirvana Black.  White has notes of Peony, Muguet, Tender Musk whereas Black has notes of Violet, Sandalwood, Vanilla.  They each stand on their own or can be worn together.

They hit Sephora stores January 14 and retail for $75.

New fave fragrance – Hanae Mori Butterfly

I am so excited to finally own this!

This smells like vanilla to me and on me, but not a gross sweet vanilla.  Just pretty and sophisticated.

You can get it at Sephora.  It retails for $68.00 for 1.7 oz for eau de toilette.

I was lucky to have a received a $15 gift card from Sephora on a purchase of $50.00 or more AND I had a $10.00 Groupon.  So my total with tax came to be $47.77.

I received the gift card because I am a Beauty Insider member.  It has its perks, peep it here.

My additional perk?  I cashed in my 100 points for a small Butterfly roll on to keep in my purse.  Shopping gods were super kind on Friday.

Do you have a favorite fragrance of the moment?
