Change your shave game – Harry’s

28 Oct

Harry’s Razors are being marketed to men, and it’s too bad because they are missing out on the ladies as customers.

This is the best razor I have ever used.  Meet Harry:

The only other acceptable Harry is this one:

harry potter.jpg

These razors are made in Germany.  Their image is precision and affordability.  Here is what Harry’s tells us why their razors are superior to the competition:

Precision-honed edges

Hinged cartridge for flexibility and control

Delivers a crisp, comfortable shave

Does it deliver what it promises?  YES!

My legs and under arms are smoothest they have ever been.  I don’t have any nicks.  The blades last a long time without compromising the quality of the shave!  Over a month and they are still sharp.

This is a shave plan, so when  you sign up, you get on a delivery rotation.  I get it every two moths, and you can change this any time.  I pay about $17  every two months for 8 blade refills.

How much does it cost to start?  $3.00!  And this is what you get:

Have you tried Harry’s?

Product I Can’t Live Without in Winter…but wish I could.

12 Dec

Chicago is freaking FREEZING right now.  Which means everyone’s heat is set to “Tropical” and means my poor skin is super dry.

Like as in, so dry that I’m super itchy and am scratching myself raw while sleeping.  No lotion I own is helping and its been over a week.  So this means it’s that time of the year that I make my trip to the LUSH store.  Woe is me.  😛

The only thing that has ever helped me survive Winter is Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner.  It smells amazing (like roses) and it seriously makes my skin feel amazing and stops all the itching.  The problem – it’s $33 a 7.9oz Tub.  [LUSH has free shipping on everything until the end of the day, so act fast.]

Here is the story:  LUSH product inventor Rowena made this decadent, rose-scented shower ‘lotion’. She noticed how much she liked the sultry soft feeling hair conditioner gives her hair, so she thought how nice it would be if she could have the same feeling for the body too. With scoops of cocoa butter, cupuacu butter, almond oil and Argan oils, and the fragrant scent of fresh rose petals, this is the most luxurious body softener that ever was (if we don’t say so ourselves!). After washing up, slather yourself all over with this new invention. Rinse, pat dry and revel in supremely soft, rose-scented skin.

An amazing way to use this product is to slather yourself with it before you take a bath and just soak away while it repairs your skin.

You can also use it to shave with…if you are rich.

What are your go-to Winter products?

Pro-tip: The Smoothest Shave You Will Ever Have.

10 Dec

You are going to think I’m out of my mind!

A while back I had a friend that put herself through school by being a stripper.  That exists, I thought it was just a Made-for-TV movie kind of thing.  Anyway, the point is I once asked her how dancers make sure they are well-groomed in the leg and bikini areas.  [i guess I ask weird things.]

Today I will share this secret with you.  You won’t believe me, but then for some reason you will try it and will thank me.  In a private message.

The secret to a super smooth shave: Lube.

Yes, lubricant. As in, condom aisle.

Here is the trick.   You want to get a high quality silicone based lubricant [Ultra by Wicked] otherwise it’s way too drying and not worth the money.  I would recommend first starting by using it for special occasions as Winter can be drying as is.  But honestly, silicon based lube can be used as a moisturizer so it shouldn’t dry you out.  Water-based lubricants totally will.

How to use:  Use it in the shower or bath as you normally would.  Be careful as it can get a bit slippery if it gets on your shower floor.  I recommend shaving at the end of your shower after your follicles have opened up and after exfoliating.  Use a high quality razor, not some disposal razor.  Those have been proven to not work as well as the non-disposable kind.  I am a Mach3 man razor kinda gal.  You might also like the Venus, if you aren’t up for dude razors.

Just so you know I’m not insane and just making this all up.  Sex Educator, Sunny Megatron, also mentions this use for Silicon lubricants in THIS article.  She also uses it de-frizz her hair, for squeaky doors and for dry skin.

Enjoy your baby soft legs.  🙂

LUSH Products for Men.

24 Oct

My name is Kassi and I am a Lush-aholic.  (aka a LUSHie).

What many of you don’t know is that LUSH has a whole bunch of products that guys would love.  They even have a whole men’s aptly named “Dirty.”

It all smells AMAZING –  tarragon, lavender and subtle spearmint.

This line includes:

Dirty Shaving Cream – Oat milk, Shea butter and honey are great for calming irritations and red marks on sensitive chins

Dirty Hair Cream – moisturizing cocoa butter to soften your locks and make your hair easy to control and style, while rosemary calms the scalp.

Dirty Perfume and Body Spray –  tarragon, lavender and subtle spearmint

Dirty Soap and Shower Gel- Spectacular blue soap is definitely our new favorite wake-me-up bar.

Other products you guys may enjoy are:

Ocean Salt – an amazing exfoliating scrub made with vodka, Coconut cream and sea salt  (this can help you become Patrick Bateman) and also helps prevent ingrown hairs from shaving.  Use before shaving – rinse with warm water – you will have the closest shave ever!  You can also use it on your hands and body!

NEW! – a solid shampoo bar to help hair look thicker and stimulate scalp.

Cosmetic Lad – A face moisturizer intended to help soothe your skin after shaving.  Chamomile extract, marigold and chickweed ease irritations, while rich cocoa butter moisturizes dry or red areas.

Aromaco – Natural deodorant made with witch hazel, baking soda, patchouli oil.

These products are also great for woman too – Lush is not gender exclusive.   They will also provide you with any samples of the products.  But let me warn you, once you have tried them you will end up loving them.  Sorry wallet.

My favorite shaving cream

18 Oct

I have tried various different shaving creams, even ones for dudes and this is my go-to.  I seriously hate everything else.

Smoothest shave from a drug store product (aside form baby oil) and really not that pricey.  (around $2.50)

What about you gals?  What is your fav?

My new favorite thing smooth summer legs

7 Jun

So on a whim I bought Johnson & Johnson baby oil.  The shea butter one – because the regular one smells super gross to me.  My clock must be messed up because that baby powder smell doesn’t do it for me.  *gag*

It’s a whole $3.50 at Target and makes my skin feel amazing, I just rub on after I get out of the shower.  I also feel like I have had to shave less which is a freaking miracle if you ask me.  I wonder what happens if you use it to shave with?  Gonna have to perform that for SCIENCE!

Shaving pro-tip: Use a dude razor.  Not disposable though, those suck.

Shaving – Do you use a razor designed for her or for him?

31 May

Ok ladies, I know I am not the only one out there that has completely ditched using razors designed for woman.  Ever since I first tried the Mach3 Turbo I have never looked back.  (We are talking a good 10 years of man razor use and I actually think I nick myself less with dude razors.)

What do you guys think?  Is there a razor for woman that actually works as good?  I know the companies that make these want woman to buy lady specific ones because they are actually more expensive:

Gillette Mach3 Turbo from [] 8 count refill – $18.99

Gillette Venus Devine from [] 8 count refill – $21.99

PROTIP: Disposable versions of any razor don’t work as well as the normal kind.

I would love to hear what you think….
