Review – Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Moisturizer

20 Nov

It feels like I have been getting moisturizer samples a lot lately.  I’m actually not complaining, especially since we are coming into a harsh season, Winter.  Protecting your skin is a must.

 img_0068$38.00 USD for 1.7 oz

From Ole Henriksen’s website:

So sheer in texture, this luxurious oil-free cream feels light and silky as it penetrates the skin and helps fade discolorations such as freckles, age spots and sun damage without the use of chemicals. Instantly nourishes and retexturizes the skin, smoothes facial lines and provides intense free radical protection to prevent further damage.

BENEFITS

Actiwhite™: Prevents and corrects discoloration and evens skin tone with an effective combination of pea extract and sugar
Vitamin C: Stimulates collagen production
Fruit Acids: Retexturizes and smoothes lines
Sandalwood, Geranium, Licorice and Chamomile Extracts: Soothes, replenishes, balances and purifies the skin
Vitamin E: Heals, restores and nourishes the skin

MY THOUGHTS

I really enjoyed using this sample. I won’t say that this is some extreme special moisturizer, but it’s a very good moisturizer.  It is non-greasy, yet it doesn’t leave my skin dry.  I used it during the Summer to Fall transition weather, with fluctuating temps.  It help up very well, adjusting to my skin’s needs.

It’s not really scented, it has “a” scent, but it’s just sort of faint and nondescript.  Some can call it chemically.

As to how well it holds up to all the anti-aging claims, I don’t think the sample is large enough to see an actual difference in skin texture.  If you recall, I had to use the Pond’s cream double the time recommended by the brand to see any difference in my skin. Here is the link to that review.

Could it in theory make a difference?   Sure, but you would probably need to use this for about 8 weeks to see an improvement.

Would I purchase this?

For the price, no way.  This is a high end cosmetic price point.  I think there are less expensive products on the market that will do the job in that same time frame.

Are you a fan of Sheer Transformation?

Review – Clearasil Daily Clear® Refreshing Superfruit Wash

16 Dec

I received a sample of this from Clearasil a while back, and liked it so much I bought a full size bottle.

wpid-PhotoGrid_1386966480270.jpg

As you can see, I have put a good dent in it with regular use.

I personally really like drugstore cleansers.  I don’t think you need to spend major bucks on a cleanser, I think  better investments are creams and treatments.

Kassi’s and I could not have the most different skin.  This probably works well for the blog though 🙂  You lovelies get to read the woes of two very different girls.

My skin issues are that: 1) it’s crazy combination  – really oily on my forehead and really dry on cheeks and nose.  So dry it peels.  So I  exfoliate a lot. 2) I get blackheads and clogged pores really easily.  Dirt just likes me, yo.

So I look for cleansers that get rid of the gunk on a deeper level, especially on my nose.

Clearasil Daily Clear® Refreshing Superfruit Wash has been really good to my skin.  I was afraid it would be overly drying as the weather gets colder, but that is not the case. My skin still feels comfortable after a cleansing.  It also helps with keeping my nose free of blackheads.  I LIKE THIS A LOT.

I don’t repurchase cleansers super often because I am always searching for something new and/or better.   However, this may be the exception.  I am happy that it is still working for me through 2 different Seasons.   Normally, I can’t use the same product in summer that I do in winter.

HG?  Maybe!

Vaseline lotion – who knew it’s pretty great?

21 Nov

My skin is super dry in the winter, and it’s already starting to feel tight and itchy.  I’m always searching for a good heavy winter lotion, and this time I looked to my local grocery store.

I got this, and I love it – Vaseline Total Moisture Cocoa Radiant Rich Feeling Lotion

Vaseline Total Moisture Cocoa Radiant Rich Feeling Lotion

It’s really budget friendly at under $5.00 US.

It sinks in nicely, hydrates for a long time (almost all day unless you wash it off), and is even good on dry feet.

Juice Beauty – Green Apple Peel for Sensitive Skin

11 Sep

I just received a sample this in my BirchBox yesterday and I really like it.

Image

I have been afraid of peels for a long time because I have sensitive skin and most of them just turn my skin red.  I once has red raccoon eyes from one in high school and begged my mom not to make me go to school.

I used the Green Apple Peel last night and my skin looks and feels amazing today!  It says to use it 1-2 times a week but I am having trouble waiting.

I experienced no redness, tightness or itchiness.

Product Review – Fake Bake Flawless Sunless Tanner

9 May

With summer fast approaching I know many of you are thinking about getting that health summer glow.  I urge you to stay out of the sun and Fake Bake instead.  No- not tanning beds, those will make you die.

Let me first remind you – I am pale.  I am talking reflective pale up in here.  This is mostly because I gave up any idea of tanning the moment my mom was diagnosed with skin cancer and well, because I was a teenage goth girl.

So in order not to blind people while wearing Jorts (jean shorts) or any other leg exposing garments I seriously have to use fake tanner or a bronzer.  Also, being tan makes you appear thinner and makes your muscles look more gun show.  Pew pew.

So my new favorite fake tanner is the Fake Bake Flawless – $14.50 for 6oz from Amazon.com
