September-ish empties 2018

8 Oct

It’s probably been about a year or more since I wrote an empties post.  When I started to think about getting back into blogging, I started collecting the empties here and there.  I’m sure there are a lot of items missing from here, but I tried to hang on to the products I wanted to talk about.  I’m also still debating whether to only include full size products or beauty box subscription products too.   I’m sure I will change my mind a 100 times.

So what did I use?   Fragrance?  Make up?  Hair?

HB4116

I will probably say a little something about each of the products.   So left to right, we have:

Simple Eye Make Up Remover Pads – These are pretty great and really affordable at just under $7.00.  One pad removes almost all of stubborn eye make up.

Calvin Klein Beauty – This fragrance is really light and fruity/citrus.   It is really great for work and I would get a lot of compliments.

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream – I buy this eye cream on and off and I still like it.

L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair Shampoo – I really like the Total Repair line.  I think it’s the best drug store shampoo and conditioner.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb – this is my favorite go to evening and special occasion scent.

Simple Cleansing Wipes – My go to, I use them as a make-up remover and also as a cleanser in a pinch.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet – this was an okay moisturizer.  Not remarkable but not terrible.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – one of the best setting sprays on the market, it just punches your wallet a little too much.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse – good product.  Recently reviewed on the site.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion – One of Holy Grails.

DermaE Purifying Daily Detox Scrub – I really like this line and this was a good scrub.

Drybar Bay Breeze Shot – this didn’t wow me, that’s all.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – I have no idea how to use these sprays so they are sort of lost on me.   I can’t even give an actual review 🙂  but, I didn’t end up with the feeling this product changed my life somehow.

Have you Lovelies tried any of these?  What did you think?  What were your Empties for September?  Link to your blog in the comments 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Budget Friendly Make-Up Look For the Corporate Dwellers

1 Dec

I seldom do make-up look posts, but I sort of liked how this turned out.  I work in super corporate America, so I have to pretty tame with my look.

Here is what I used:

I used a good mix of drugstore and higher end brands.

Beautyblender

E.L.F. setting spray.  You can read a prior review here.

NYX shadow pallette in Love in Rio.  I never did a full review of this, but mentioned it briefly in an Ipsy reveal.  If you guys want to see a full review, let me know 🙂

L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder foundation.  I haven’t reviewed this at all!  I can’t believe it.  I will post a full review soonish.

Anastasia Beverly Hills eye brow duo

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Cargo blush

and the finished look:

I’m totally showing of my hair too, because I was kinda feeling it.

Dupe – Urban Decay vs NYX Setting Spray

9 Jan

Makeup Setting Spray is a must have for anyone who wears makeup!  Seriously.  Rubbing your face off is dumb, stop doing it.  We are here to help you do it for cheap!

Image

We made a post a while back comparing Urban Decay’s setting spray vs E.L.F.  You can read it HERE.

Image

Let me summarize it for you – the E.L.F one works about the same and is $3. The problem with the E.L.F. is it smells like feet for the first minute of having it on your face.  Kinda gross, right?  That is what drove me to trying the NYX spray.

The NYX Setting spray comes in two varieties – Matte and Dewy.  I opted for the Matte as that is finish I most prefer, although I have heard that the dewy one is actually better for dry, Winter skin.

Image

It retails for $7.99, so it’s a bit more expensive than the E.L.F.

The Urban Decay setting spray is $29 – that is a savings of over $20.  SCORE!

The NYX doesn’t smell funky to me, didn’t break me out, makes my face powder look lovely and holds my makeup in place.  Really, it works the same as the Urban Decay – maybe it has a tiny bit less staying power but it’s not worth pay $20 extra IMO.

Buzzfeed : 27 beauty Products to look for in 2014.

3 Jan

I am personally kind of tired of these Buzzfeed lists, but this one is better and exciting.  (according to me.)

The 27 Transcendent Beauty Products to Look out for in 2014.

I mean, ‘transcendent’ might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I like their moxie.

Here are some of the Must Have’s on the list:

Urban Decay – Naked 3

9 Dec

The launch of this new palette is super exciting!  I love my Naked 2 palette and use it several times a week.  The colors are beautiful and have excellent staying power and the case is strong enough that I have taken it on two vacations.

Here is the new Naked 3.  It has more rosy hues than the previous Naked palettes but all the shimmer you have come to expect.

Image

It retails for $52 and consists of 12 colors, a mirror and a brush.

Here ya go- a swatch comparison for each of the Nakeds.

AND a tutorial from Keiko Lynn to show you how this actually looks on a person. CLICK HERE for the detailed step by step.

According to someone on Reddit there are rumors going around about an new Naked palette!

Here are the leaked photos:

this could be a complete hoax – these photos were found via an Instagram user.  Some of these colors look exactly the same as shades from the Naked and Naked 2 palettes.

Urban Decay has yet to confirm or deny.
