September-ish empties 2018

8 Oct

It’s probably been about a year or more since I wrote an empties post.  When I started to think about getting back into blogging, I started collecting the empties here and there.  I’m sure there are a lot of items missing from here, but I tried to hang on to the products I wanted to talk about.  I’m also still debating whether to only include full size products or beauty box subscription products too.   I’m sure I will change my mind a 100 times.

i-cant-make-jaqq2f

So what did I use?   Fragrance?  Make up?  Hair?

HB4116

I will probably say a little something about each of the products.   So left to right, we have:

Simple Eye Make Up Remover Pads – These are pretty great and really affordable at just under $7.00.  One pad removes almost all of stubborn eye make up.

Calvin Klein Beauty – This fragrance is really light and fruity/citrus.   It is really great for work and I would get a lot of compliments.

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream – I buy this eye cream on and off and I still like it.

L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair Shampoo – I really like the Total Repair line.  I think it’s the best drug store shampoo and conditioner.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb – this is my favorite go to evening and special occasion scent.

Simple Cleansing Wipes – My go to, I use them as a make-up remover and also as a cleanser in a pinch.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet – this was an okay moisturizer.  Not remarkable but not terrible.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – one of the best setting sprays on the market, it just punches your wallet a little too much.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse – good product.  Recently reviewed on the site.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion – One of Holy Grails.

DermaE Purifying Daily Detox Scrub – I really like this line and this was a good scrub.

Drybar Bay Breeze Shot – this didn’t wow me, that’s all.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – I have no idea how to use these sprays so they are sort of lost on me.   I can’t even give an actual review 🙂  but, I didn’t end up with the feeling this product changed my life somehow.

Have you Lovelies tried any of these?  What did you think?  What were your Empties for September?  Link to your blog in the comments 🙂

Play! by Sephora September 2018

1 Oct

It’s been a long time since I did an unboxing 🙂

Sephora Sept.jpg

In September Sephora filled the bag with Olehenriksen, Boscia, Too Faced, Sephora Collection, Marc Jacobs Beauty, and Philosophy.

Here is the details:

C What’s New by Olehenriksen

Succulent Solution by Boscia

Radical Reviver by Too Faced

Buildable Breakthrough by Sephora Collection

The Berry Best by Marc Jacobs Beauty

On The Rose by Philosophy

All of these products are new to me, so I am excited to try them.  The Marc Jacobs lipstick shade looks amazing, and perfect for the Fall/Winter seasons.

For those who don’t know, Play! by Sephora is a monthly beauty subscription by Sephora.   It’s $10 a month plus tax.   AND the 10 dollars you spend on the subscription counts toward your points if you are a Beauty Insider.  Isn’t that a nice deal?

Let me know if you lovelies have you used any of these products!

Review – Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Ultimate Hydro Gel

17 Sep

I have been receiving a lot of moisturizers through my beauty subscriptions.  I like skin care and I especially like moisturizers because I am pretty obsessed with not aging.   A few months ago, I received the Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Ultimate Hydro Gel.

DR JART WATER FUSE

For those who are unfamiliar with the brand, Dr. Jart+, it was one of the first Korean beauty brands to have mainstream name recognition.   They have a wide variety of products, the brand was developed by dermatologists in Korea,  and it is one of the few brands of SPF that doesn’t make my skin revolt.

You Lovelies are probably curious about this particular products though.  Okay, on to what I think of Water Fuse.

What this is: it’s a super light, super absorbent moisturizing gel.  It spreads on the skin really easily and sinks in quickly.   It doesn’t sit on top of the skin.  It doesn’t make skin oily   My skin does tend to be on the dry side.  For daytime use, especially if you have dry skin.  I don’t think this would be enough for overnight use unless I lived in Florida and decided to go camping.  Because humid weather makes us dry girls not dry 🙂

jart2.jpg

*as you can see I have used almost all of my sample size 🙂

Texture: light in color, very wet to apply.  It does feel like gel, as the name implies.

Scent:  minimal

Cost: average, for 1.7 fl oz of product, you will pay $39.00 USD at Sephora. At that price it’s a bit more than you would pay for a quality drug store brand.   But it’s also not so expensive that you would think twice about buying it.  This is your face, after all, no?

Availability: I think that Sephora may be the only store/website to carry the line in the States.  I looked on the Dr. Jart+ website and for purchases, it directed me to the Sephora website.

Would I buy this?  Yes. It’s a great product with an okay price point.

Few more notes:  This didn’t replace any moisturizers in my collection, but I do use it when I want something lighter on my face, but want to avoid feeling dry.

Have you tried any Dr. Jart products?  Did you like them?

90s Perfumes – I did get one!!!

10 Sep

You guys remember when I got  Nostalgic for 90s perfumes?   So I did satisfy my craving and I ended up with two of my 90s favorites.  One I already went through, I got a little obsessed and it was perfect for the winter.  Yes,  Vanilla Fields got my through the Chicago winter while smelling of fresh baked cookies and fields of vanilla beans.

For Christmas, my good friend bought me Exclamation!  I am still using it daily.  It’s a nice sweet scent for summer and it does remind me of my Junior High and High School days.

Exclamation.jpg

So what does it smell like and do I still like it?  Honestly, it smells a lot sweeter than I remember.  I’m not sure if the formula had changed or if my style had changed.  Basically, this smells like if you were to stick your face in a giant bag of Jolly Rangers and inhaled.  That is how Exclamation! smells.  I like candy, so I think this is delightful.  If you prefer a citrus and spice based fragrance, you will probably not like this.

I do prefer muskier scents now, so I’m not really sure where the Vanilla Fields obsession fits in, but whatevs.  But, yes, I still like it.  As I said, I wear it frequently and it works as a good day times/office scent.

In case you are interested in trying this 90s gem, I got mine at Sears.  I think I have also seen them as Walgreens.   I am sort of happy this scent has stuck around.

Review – L’Oreal Color Vibrancy Hair System

8 Feb

I was so lucky to receive a Vox Box from Influenster and asked to review L’Oreal Color Vibrancy Hair System.  I received a full size shampoo, conditioner and hair mask in exchange for doing a review for them on the L’Oreal website.

Oh you want to get free stuff to review?  Sign up here.

img_0518

I wasn’t sure what to expect from a drug store shampoo and conditioner.  However, L’oreal is behind a lot of high end brands too, so I was expecting a good product.

And it delivered.

img_0520img_0519

I’ve used this for a month now, and it’s as good now as it was the first time.  I had products start out good and then sort fail after a few uses.  This keeps on going.  It’s supposed to help preserve your hair color, according to L’Oreal.  And it does but also does so much more.

What I really like:

The scent.  It’ s a sweet feminine scent that lingers on my hair for a few days. I love that!!!

It lathers easily.

It rinses very clean.  My hair feels like it’s free of any residue.

It keeps my hair bright.

The conditioner is very moisturizing.  My hair is very shiny and smooth after each use.  It doesn’t cause build up, and it doesn’t make my hair greasy.

I have zero frizz when I use this.  ZERO

The mask is nice, but I don’t need it with this conditioner.  I’m not sure I need that much conditioning.

What I didn’t like:

Nothing!

Some people have reported this dried out their hair after a few uses. I didn’t have the same experience, but wanted to include it.

Would I buy this for myself?

Yes.  I’m actually curious what other products L’Oreal has in this line.

What an awesome first taste from Influenster!  Thanks!!!

I’m growing out my hair again, because I seem to have developed commitment issues with hair length.  Short, Long, Extensions, Go crazy and cut it off.

Here are some fun hair dos I found, including my own braid headband!

Empties – December 2016

31 Dec

Last post of the 2016 year!  Happy New Year everyone!  What’s better than sending off the year than with a bunch of used up beauty products?  Am I right?   So what did I use this month:

december-empties

This month was full of International used up products haha.

From left to right:

e.l.f.  make-up mist & set reviewed here

Soap & Glory Hand Food – reviewed here

Clarins  Multi-Active Jour – reviewed here

Hot Heads Clean Shampoo – no review because this is only really for extension wearers and it’s not readily available.  However, I still wanted to include it since I used up the little that was left since I removed the extensions.

Ziaja hand creme.  This is a Polish skin care line.  The line is available online and even on Amazon. Here is an example

Tony Moly Pure Aura CC Cream – not a review for this cream only, but I do talk about it in this Korean cosmetic post.  It’s also one of my favorite CC creams ever.

Air Repair Complexion-Boosting Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid – reviewed here

L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Lip Balm – reviewed here

Review – Budget friendly L’Oreal Magic Nude foundation

19 Dec

Foundation. It now comes in so many forms.  BB, CC, tinted moisturizer, liquid, powder, mineral, now even clay!

They can cost you a couple dollars or $50.00.

L’Oreal’s Magic Nude will cost you around $12-18 USD.

image

I think I paid around $12.00 for this drugstore foundation, and I’m having a really hard finding it online to link at the moment.  I’m seeing it at Walmart for $18.99, and it’s sold out everywhere else.

From L’Oreal:

Nude Magic is a light-weight daily use foundation that gives your skin that perfect nude glamorous finish with a magic, feathery texture. It leaves your skin even and perfectly radiant with zero imperfections. Available in 6 shades.

Nude Magic contains light oils for perfect coverage and a velvety touch. It boasts of an airy, lighter-than-water formula that spreads 2x more than regular foundations giving your skin room to breathe and yet giving it a flawless finish.

Pictured above: Light Ivory

My thoughts:

I really like this drugstore foundation and I really hope that it doesn’t get discontinued.

This is really light weight and it dries to a powder like consistency.  I’ve used this in both summer and winter, and my skin gets super oily in the super and super dry in the winter.  I know, it has no idea what it wants to be.  Thus, sometimes I’ve been known to have a summer and winter foundation because of whacky skin.  L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder though, it works for all seasons for me.

It’s light weight, which makes is easily buildable.  You can even mix it with your favorite moisturizer to create your own tinted moisturizer.  Also, this has 18 SPF!  So much more than the usual 8 or something equally weak and weird.

The best part about this foundation is that it just sort of looks like your own skin.

I can’t really find anything negative to say about this.  It works that well for me.  Other than only having 6 shades, there is no real downside.

Would I repurchase this?  Absolutely!

Have you tried L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation?   Do you like it?

My favorite products of 2016!!!

16 Dec

Hello Lovelies!  Welcome to Friday and the weekend!!!  Also, 9 days until Christmas, excited?

I was debating whether to include items I discovered prior to 2016, but still use and love them OR only include new to me products of 2016.

I chose the new to me, because my list would otherwise be HUGE.

img_0345

klorane

After I made my selections and took the picture, I was happy to see a good mix of high end and drugstore products!

Poor Klorane didn’t make it into the group shot because I used it up!  And I don’t have a replacement because I have been trying to love the Simple wipes.

Also, I will list a couple of almosts and why they ultimately didn’t make the list.

Pond’s Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream. Drugstore brand and this pot is HUGE.  It’s not even a pot, it’s a bucket of moisturizer.  My previous review is on the link.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour.  This is really new to me, and I haven’t even done a review yet, but I love this. I’ve been using it almost every day since I received it in my Sephora Play.

L’Oreal Magic Lumi.  I bought this a while ago, and forgot about it.  Two weeks ago I found it in my collection, and I decided I really like it.  Review coming soon.

Etude House Wonder Pore. Not quite drug store, not quite high end.  In a league of it’s own – the Korean cosmetic brand.  Here is my review.

Kat Von D Tattoo Eye Liner I just found this in my eye liner stash.  It’s amazing.  Possibly the best liquid liner I’ve ever used.

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water. I’m so into this still.  Here is my review.

Etude House Tint My Brows Gel.  Awesome product. You get to dye your eye brows at home. Here is my review

Anastasia Brow Wiz  I’m a fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills, and this is another awesome product from the line.  This is a recent purchase for me.

Klorane waterproof eye make-up remover.  This is the best eye make-up remover I have ever used.  Here is my review.

I hope you enjoyed my list! What are your favorites of the year?

Review – Simple Eye Make-Up Remover Pads

15 Dec

Hello Lovelies!  Happy Thursday.  I’ve been using the Simple Eye Make-Up Remover Pads for a couple of weeks now.  Are you super curious what I thought of these?

fullsizer

You can get this for $4.41 at Walmart.com

What the Company says:

Simple Eye Make-Up Remover Pads are tough on mascara (even waterproof mascara) while still being gentle on your lashes and eyes. They are even suitable for contact lens wearers with our dermatologically and ophthalmological tested formula.

My thoughts:

First impression, it takes a little work for these pads to actually remove mascara.  Other eye make-up comes off easy enough, but mascara takes more work.  I wasn’t even using waterproof mascara.  I have no idea how it would work on a waterproof formula.

For heavier make-up application, you will probably need more than 1 pad to fully remove darker traces around your eyes.

On the plus side, it doesn’t sting the eyes.

It smells pleasant, not overly perfumed, just sort of fresh.

I did see some eyelash loss with this, but this happens with everything other than Klorane, which I just ADORED.  Here is that review.

Would I purchase this?  I think this will work well for travel and camping.  For home yes, I would like to try the other formula Simple has, in a bottle.

Have you tried the Simple eye make-up remover or other products?
