September-ish empties 2018

8 Oct

It’s probably been about a year or more since I wrote an empties post.  When I started to think about getting back into blogging, I started collecting the empties here and there.  I’m sure there are a lot of items missing from here, but I tried to hang on to the products I wanted to talk about.  I’m also still debating whether to only include full size products or beauty box subscription products too.   I’m sure I will change my mind a 100 times.

i-cant-make-jaqq2f

So what did I use?   Fragrance?  Make up?  Hair?

HB4116

I will probably say a little something about each of the products.   So left to right, we have:

Simple Eye Make Up Remover Pads – These are pretty great and really affordable at just under $7.00.  One pad removes almost all of stubborn eye make up.

Calvin Klein Beauty – This fragrance is really light and fruity/citrus.   It is really great for work and I would get a lot of compliments.

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream – I buy this eye cream on and off and I still like it.

L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair Shampoo – I really like the Total Repair line.  I think it’s the best drug store shampoo and conditioner.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb – this is my favorite go to evening and special occasion scent.

Simple Cleansing Wipes – My go to, I use them as a make-up remover and also as a cleanser in a pinch.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet – this was an okay moisturizer.  Not remarkable but not terrible.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – one of the best setting sprays on the market, it just punches your wallet a little too much.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse – good product.  Recently reviewed on the site.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion – One of Holy Grails.

DermaE Purifying Daily Detox Scrub – I really like this line and this was a good scrub.

Drybar Bay Breeze Shot – this didn’t wow me, that’s all.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – I have no idea how to use these sprays so they are sort of lost on me.   I can’t even give an actual review 🙂  but, I didn’t end up with the feeling this product changed my life somehow.

Have you Lovelies tried any of these?  What did you think?  What were your Empties for September?  Link to your blog in the comments 🙂

Play! by Sephora September 2018

1 Oct

It’s been a long time since I did an unboxing 🙂

Sephora Sept.jpg

In September Sephora filled the bag with Olehenriksen, Boscia, Too Faced, Sephora Collection, Marc Jacobs Beauty, and Philosophy.

Here is the details:

C What’s New by Olehenriksen

Succulent Solution by Boscia

Radical Reviver by Too Faced

Buildable Breakthrough by Sephora Collection

The Berry Best by Marc Jacobs Beauty

On The Rose by Philosophy

All of these products are new to me, so I am excited to try them.  The Marc Jacobs lipstick shade looks amazing, and perfect for the Fall/Winter seasons.

For those who don’t know, Play! by Sephora is a monthly beauty subscription by Sephora.   It’s $10 a month plus tax.   AND the 10 dollars you spend on the subscription counts toward your points if you are a Beauty Insider.  Isn’t that a nice deal?

Let me know if you lovelies have you used any of these products!

Review – Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads

26 Jan

c9c7b26c

I received a sample of the Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads from Birchbox.  For $18.00 USD, you will receive 5 pairs of pads.

I only received 1 pair, but oh well.

What Birchbox Says:

BIRCHBOX BREAKDOWN

For a better round-the-clock solution to fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness, try these gel pads with 100 percent pure collagen. The hydrating pads plump and restore the youthful appearance around your eyes and enhance eye contour naturally without any scary needles. These easy-to-use beauty wonders repair sensitive skin around your eyes after time in the sun, and help brighten eyes.

HOW TO USE

After cleansing, open foil pack and immediately apply one pad beneath each eye. Apply evenly to ensure a good contact with the skin. Leave on for 20 minutes then peel and dispose. Do not reuse.

What FairyGodMother says:

Basically, this is a super moisture infused eye pad that sticks to your skin.  Like this:

024059a9

It’s weirdly annoying to wear around for 20 minutes.  They are pretty thick and heavy, so you very much feel them on your skin.  Is it terrible?  No, just irritating enough to be irritating for 20 minutes, but not irritating enough to hate it.

Does this deliver what it promises?

Yes, the results are instant and last about a day.  This stuff hydrates like nobody’s business.  If you have dry skin or tiny wrinkles under your eyes, this will minimize them temporarily.

Does it work on dark circles?

No idea.  I don’t have dark circles and the description makes no promises about diminishing dark under eye circles.  Some reviewers seem to think it made a difference though.

Will this help on puffiness?

Yes, temporarily because it pumps everything else around the eye.

Would I purchase this?

Yes, this is a good product.  It’s nice to use before a special occasion or if your skin has been going through some major dryness.

Have you tried the Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads?  Do you like them?

Review – Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Cream

13 Jan

I honestly cannot remember the last time I received an eye cream in one of my beauty subscriptions.  This was a nice change, even though I had a Kiehl’s product not too long ago.  Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Cream seemed different enough from I usually see in the monthlies and have received from Kiehl’s.

img_0279

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Cream costs $37.00 USD for 0.5 fl oz.

What the manufacturer says:

Midnight Recovery Eye

A restorative eye treatment for younger-looking eyes by morning

  • Leaves under-eye skin feeling strengthened and replenished
  • Diminishes the appearance of fine lines
  • Reduces puffiness and dark under-eye circles
  • Infused with the same natural ingredients as Midnight Recovery Concentrate plus Butcher’s Broom, which improves microcirculation and reduces inflammation
  • No parabens, fragrance, mineral oil or silicones

What Your Fairy Godmother says:

At first impression, this has a very pleasant scent.

It’s a thick cream, and you don’t need very much of it.  The sample was very typical sample size and I used it for almost 2 months.  So, even though the price is high you will get a lot of use from the regular size tube.

I’m not able to confirm any diminishing for lines.  I’m not saying it doesn’t work in the long run, but it didn’t make a difference in a month.

I don’t think it reduces puffiness.

I don’t have dark under-eye circles, so that claim didn’t apply to me.

Overall, this is a nice moisturizer, but I think if you are looking for some serious wrinkle relief, you may want to look into something that is specifically made for wrinkles.

Would I buy it?

I would, if I didn’t already have a favorite eye cream.  I’m basing this on how well it kept my eye area moisturizer.  It was good, but what I’m currently using is better.

My favorite products of 2016!!!

16 Dec

Hello Lovelies!  Welcome to Friday and the weekend!!!  Also, 9 days until Christmas, excited?

I was debating whether to include items I discovered prior to 2016, but still use and love them OR only include new to me products of 2016.

I chose the new to me, because my list would otherwise be HUGE.

img_0345

klorane

After I made my selections and took the picture, I was happy to see a good mix of high end and drugstore products!

Poor Klorane didn’t make it into the group shot because I used it up!  And I don’t have a replacement because I have been trying to love the Simple wipes.

Also, I will list a couple of almosts and why they ultimately didn’t make the list.

Pond’s Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream. Drugstore brand and this pot is HUGE.  It’s not even a pot, it’s a bucket of moisturizer.  My previous review is on the link.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour.  This is really new to me, and I haven’t even done a review yet, but I love this. I’ve been using it almost every day since I received it in my Sephora Play.

L’Oreal Magic Lumi.  I bought this a while ago, and forgot about it.  Two weeks ago I found it in my collection, and I decided I really like it.  Review coming soon.

Etude House Wonder Pore. Not quite drug store, not quite high end.  In a league of it’s own – the Korean cosmetic brand.  Here is my review.

Kat Von D Tattoo Eye Liner I just found this in my eye liner stash.  It’s amazing.  Possibly the best liquid liner I’ve ever used.

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water. I’m so into this still.  Here is my review.

Etude House Tint My Brows Gel.  Awesome product. You get to dye your eye brows at home. Here is my review

Anastasia Brow Wiz  I’m a fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills, and this is another awesome product from the line.  This is a recent purchase for me.

Klorane waterproof eye make-up remover.  This is the best eye make-up remover I have ever used.  Here is my review.

I hope you enjoyed my list! What are your favorites of the year?

What I’m testing now – Simple eye make-up remover pads

5 Dec

I heard some good things about the Simple Eye Make-Up Remover.  I have been trying to get my hands on the liquid version, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere in my area.   Since I ran out of Klorane, which I adored, I decided to pick up the wipes instead.

img_0327

These ran me around $6.00 for 30 pads.

I’ve used these a couple of times, and I’m still working on a full review of these babies.

Have you ladies used these?  Thoughts?

Budget Friendly Make-Up Look For the Corporate Dwellers

1 Dec

I seldom do make-up look posts, but I sort of liked how this turned out.  I work in super corporate America, so I have to pretty tame with my look.

Here is what I used:

img_0328

I used a good mix of drugstore and higher end brands.

Beautyblender

E.L.F. setting spray.  You can read a prior review here.

NYX shadow pallette in Love in Rio.  I never did a full review of this, but mentioned it briefly in an Ipsy reveal.  If you guys want to see a full review, let me know 🙂

L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder foundation.  I haven’t reviewed this at all!  I can’t believe it.  I will post a full review soonish.

Anastasia Beverly Hills eye brow duo

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Cargo blush

and the finished look:

I’m totally showing of my hair too, because I was kinda feeling it.

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Sephora Play! November Reveal

23 Nov

Unlike Ipsy or Birchbox, which have some level of customization, I don’t believe Play! varies much from customer to customer.  At any rate, I don’t see a lot of these reveals for Play!, so I don’t feel like this is totally useless.  If you aren’t familiar with Sephora Play!, it’s a monthly beauty box subscription for $10.00 USD a month plus tax.

img_0281

Maison Margiela perfume sample.  I always like to get perfume samples because I love changing up my scents.

Glam Glow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment

Caudalie Moisturizing Sorbet

Cover FX Illuminating Primer

Laura Mercier Cavier Stick Eye Shadow – LOVE THIS ALREADY

Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gel.

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about Sephora including their own brand in the subscription. I do like the Sephora brand, but I don’t know if I want to see it as part of the boxes.

What’s in my make-up bag?

15 Nov

fullsizer

This is what I carry with me everyday.

Starting from top and then left to right:

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder in Medium.  It’s a good powder, does it’s job.  Keeps me from looking too oily 🙂

Sephora Kabuki Brush.  It’s retractable and perfect for the purse.  I got this on clearance last year and it’s now gone from the site.  This is the closest I could find for the price.

Starlooks Kohl Liner in Obsidian.  Still available and only $9.00 USD.

Revlon ColorBurst in Fliratious Charmeuse $12.88 USD.  I love that this doubles as a lip balm. It’s so soft.

Hikari lipstick in Cabernet $13.00 USD

Sephora + Pantone Universe Collection lipstick in Pure Marsala.  This was a limited edition color last year and I went bonkers over it.  There are still items left over in that shade on Sephora’s website.  It’s a red brown shade, and I’m still a little obsessed with it.

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey $17 USD.  This is one of my favorite make-up items of all tume.

Blotterazi by beautyblender.  This was a Birchbox sample because I don’t know I would actually purchase this.  It’s $20.00 USD and it’s supposed to be an alternative to blotting.  But, if it really worked would I still be carrying around my MAC Mineralize?

Hope you lovelies enjoyed what is in my purse!

Thanks for reading!!
